News Article - Tough 1 to swallow - Jul 12, 2009

This game was a tough pill to swallow.   Dave Stark started this game and only gave up 2 earned runs but we dropped 3 pop ups and gave up 5 runs in the 1st inning.  But we put up 6 in the 6th and went up 8-7.   Billy Hricisin came in for the 6th inning and threw great.  The Steal did tie it in their bottom of the 6th but we came through again in the 7th with 2 more runs on a 2 rbi triple by  Terry Crupi.  But in the bottom of the 9th we hit a batter, gave up 2 hits, made another error and walked in the winning run with 2 outs killed us 11-10.   Perry Taglienti was 3-4 with 3 rbi's including a double.  We also had doubles by,  Dan Gassert,  Eric Storch, and  Rick Reilly

News Article - 8 Guys - Jul 9, 2009

This was a makeup game vs the Astros who we beat by 10 runs a few weeks ago.  When this game was rescheduled 11 guys acknowledged they would be at the game, as it turns out only 8 showed.  Unfortunately as it turns out had a 9th guy shown we would have won.   John Cappellano pitched  and pitched well giving up no earned runs.  It was a duel as errors gave the Astros a 2-1 lead through 8 innings but the lack of the 9th player hit us hard as the Astros hit the ball in the unoccupied spot and triggered a 5 run 9th to sink us 7-2.    Mike Oppmann had a nice game collecting 2 hits even with a banged up ankle.   Keith Snyder continued his hot hitting roping a double down the line.  Hopefully we can get at least 9 guys from our 20 man roster to show up the rest of the year to avoid this tough loss from happening again, I want to thank the 8 guys who gave it their all out there!!

News Article - Where's the Offense? - Jul 9, 2009

Well we came in to this week on a bit of a roll winning 4 in a row and seemingly on our way back from the bad 0-6 start but soon it went down hill quickly.   Dan Gassert  took the mound and pitched well only giving up 1 earned run, the problem was we kicked the ball around and let 6 unearned runs score.  The Rangers jumped on us 3-0 early and we pulled to 3-2 on an rbi single in the 4th by  Chris Heckman but that ended up being our last run of the game as we gave 4 runs right back to them the next inning to lose 7-2.  Game 2  Ian Cooper  pitched well enough to win but where did the offense go?  We lost 6-1 with a few more errors to help seal our fate for the day.   Keith Snyder did have a great day going 4-6 on the day including a triple and double and  Mark Coombe added a double in game 2 but unless we could play 8 other  Keith Snyder's and a friend named defense there wasn't much we could do positive today as we fall to 4-8.

News Article - 11 Innings!!! - Jun 9, 2009

This week we played the Orioles and felt confident coming into it.  What we didn't know was our team would only get 5 hits against a guy who threw the ball about maybe 55 mph.   John Cappellano is all you need to know about this game as this guy not only pitched the full 11 innings striking out 17 Orioles allowing 1 earned run, he also had 3 of the 5 total hits for us as we won 4-3.  Game 2 was a much different story as we blew them out 18-0.   Ian Cooper pitched for us picking up the easy win striking out 4.  Offensively  Ian Cooper, and  Terry Crupi were both 3-4, both with 2 doubles.  Many of the starters had 2 hits and as a team we ended up with 18 on the day including a triple by  Brian Timins.

News Article - We 10 runned em' - Jun 3, 2009

As the season continues and we try to rebound from our slow start we had a single game vs. the Astros.   John Cappellano started for us and threw 8 great innings striking out 8 while walking only 2 and only allowing 2 earned runs.  Our offense showed up as we banged out 16 hits and won 13-3 in a mercy ruled shortened game of 7 innings rather then 9.   Dan Gassert was the man today going 4-4 with 2 doubles and 4 rbi's.   Perry Taglienti was 3-4 himself also with 4 rbi's.   John Cappellano,  Terry Crupi, and  Mike Oppmann all added 2 hits of their own to help lock up the win.

News Article - We Got Win #1 - May 17, 2009

John Cappellano was the highlight of this game hands down as he pitched the full 9 innings allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run and striking out 8.  This game was tight 1-1 until we broke through in the 6th for 3 runs on 3 rbi singles by  Chris Schupp,  Mark Coombe, and  Chris Heckman and tacked on 1 more to win it 5-1 against last years regular season champs the Steal.   Eric Storch,  Rick Reilly, and  Chris Schupp all had 2 hits each as we earned our 1st win this season.

News Article - 0-6 - May 12, 2009

The Phillies double header had to be made up on Mother's Day to the dismay of some of the players but this is baseball and here we go.  The game started off with us giving away 5 walks in the 1st inning leading to 9 walks in the game and a 12-3 defeat.  There were some offensive highlights as  Dan Gassert and  Perry Taglienti were both 3-3 and  Keith Snyder had a double.  Game 2 was actually worse then the 1st one as we took it on the chin 13-2.  The Phillies put together a 7 run 2nd inning and a 5 run 7th inning to completely take us out of this one early.  Offensively we only mustered 4 hits 2 of which were from red hot  Dan Gassert.   Perry Taglienti did rope a double but too little too late.
