Welcome to the Barney and Fulmodeston Cricket Club web site.

Barney and Fulmodeston Cricket Club is based in the parish of Fulmodeston and players come from both the parish and the surrounding area. The team currently plays in the Mid-Norfolk Sunday Cricket League and although they enjoy winning, the members think the camaraderie and team spirit are just as important as the result. Anyone wishing to join the team should contact the Captain.

A big thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and to those who attended the prize draw, in total £160 was raised and has been divided between the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Barney and Fulmondestone Cricket Club/playing field.

The Air Ambulance needs no introduction as it is such a worthy cause, with many local people being grateful for its services. The money going to the cricket club will be used to fuel and maintain mowers and other equipment to continue the upkeep of the Barney playing field.

The cricket club would also like to thank the Green Man Inn, Little Snoring, for their donation of prizes and hosting the raffle, as well as their support for the coming season.

Finally, on a personal note a massive thank you to Liam Riseborough for braving the cold and helping me sell tickets in Barney over the week.

Mar 5, 2013 - Your Club Needs You

Yout Team Needs You

With the last of the snow clouds drifting over the horizon and the water polo equipment being removed from the playing field, minds begin to dream of long hot Sunday afternoons and the familiar shout of “Umpire do you want to borrow my glasses!”. But before we get to hear those words again there is work to do and that’s where you come in. First and foremost the team is looking for sponsors for the display boards that are used around the pitch on match days and feature heavily on this website.  The benefits of sponsoring a board are:

Having a display board around the pitch on match days advertises your business.

A photo of the board will have a permanent place on this website.

A link from our website to yours. Our website had over 40,000 visits in it's first year.

A link with a local team shows you care about the community

You can feel good about yourself!

Sponsorship does not necessarily have to be financial. Free loan of equipment or donations of consumables or services that the team may use are also welcome. For full details of sponsorship or if you want to become involved in the club in any other way please contact the Club Chairman Richard Riseborough on 07879842796.

Feb 19, 2013 - A change to the fixture list.

Unfortunately Sandringham have withdrawn from the league, however they have been replaced by Lerverington which is just north of Wisbech. I believe our away match with Leverington now becomes our furthest trip to a match in the league. The fixture lists on this site have been updated to reflect the change.

Jan 14, 2013 - Better late than never. The Club Presentation Dinner Report.

As I have now rolled the season over so that the 2012 news stories and photos are archived (don’t worry you can still find them under the News and Photo Gallery links) I thought I would start the 2013 season off with a story from 2012, so here goes.

Using all their multitasking talents the team managed to combine an, End of Season Dinner, Awards Dinner and Club Christmas Dinner into one Celebration Dinner, which was organised by Richard Riseborough (thank you) and held at The Green Man, Little Snoring. The evening was a great success with a wonderful carvery provided by our hosts and plenty of drink to lubricate the throats of the team. During the meal the club members took part in a secret ballot for the award of Player of the Year. Following the dinner the Club Chairman Richard Riseborough hosted an awards ceremony presenting trophies to:

Aaron Riseborough - Batsman of the Year.

James Dagless - Bowler of the Year

Liam Riseborough - Club member of the Year

(Received for the work that Liam undertakes at the club, particularly in preparing the pitch for matches.)

Liam Channell – Player of the Year.

These achievements have been added to the new Honours Board section of the web site so that they will be seen for many years to come.

Richard thanked Mandy Warren for the work she does as Club Secretary and presented Jane Foley and Teresa Hall with flowers for the work they have done at the club this year and for the support that they have given to Richard and Sean. James White thanked Richard on behalf of the team for all the work he has done at the club.

Following the presentations the team retired to the bar for a beer or two or three and a poker tournament.

On behalf of the team I would like to thank Richard for organising the evening and to the Green Man pub for helping to make it such a success.

Sean Foley (Club President.)

P.S. I didn’t have my camera on the night so if anyone has photos of the presentations can they email or facebook them to me.
