The 4th grade Lady Cougars won the 2nd annual "Lady Knights Classic" held at the Kingdom located in Franklin, Ohio. During this Tournament they won a close game in overtime, shooting free throws. The Championship game was very close and the Lady Cougars found themselves trailing most of the game until Amanda Effler found herself open in the middle of the lane on an inbounds play and made the shot to tie the game with less than a minute to go. With 16 seconds left Lexi Munafo was fouled and sent to the free throw line, after missing the first shot and then a time out by the Lady Knights, host of the tournament, lexi drained the second free throw putting the lady Cougars up by one. As the Lady Knights drove down the court the Cougars defense stayed tight as the did the entire tournament causing yet another turnover and a victory....Great job girls. You should all be very proud.

Another weekend has past and the Edgewood Girls program came out in pretty good shape. They even survived the "RUGBY" matches held at Miller Ridge against the Middletown Middies. The season continues to go well for all teams and so far I think the season has gone well for the girls and the program. I hope that everyone is having fun and learning a little about the game of basketball. Congrats to the Third Grade team who pulled out an exciting victory this past weekend at Franklin. The game was won on a last minute shot by Samantah Turner. The defense was also able to stop a last effort try by Franklin to get the ball down court and shoot...Great job ladies. Keep up the hard work.

Welcome back from the Holidays. I hope that you and your family's had an oppertunity to slow down and enjoy each other during the Holiday's. I hope that Santa brought each of you something very special.

I also wanted to let each and everyone of you know how much fun I am having so far this year. I have enjoyed the time I have spent watching the teams play and watching the girls improve. It is my belief that each and every girl has learned quite a bit about the game of basketball this year and I plan to assure that tradition continues for several years to come.

Along with that, I wanted to thank each of you for being paitent as we work through this first year together. Without doubt there must be someone who is unhappy with or has a suggestion to help improve our program as we move forward. I encourage you to come see me or call me to discuss these ideas/problems.

In the coming weeks, I want to schedule a meeting for the parents so that we may discuss the creation of a board. The goal of this board and the members will be simply to help improve and grow our organization and make it the best program around. I would also like to discuss the finances of the organization as well as get ideas for the end of year banquet. Please be thinking about these items as the next few weeks pass.

Opening Home Weekend

I wanted to quickly thank those of you who helped out running the concessions/door during the first weekend at home. Everything went very well. I want to personally thank Doug and Susan Cheek, Marita Loftus, Jeff Halsey and Mike Hiatt for their help, without you we could have never pulled it off.
