Welcome to Kankakee Junior High Softball!!! Junior High SOFTBALL BANQUET: When: Friday 16,2009 Where: Monicals Pizza Kankakee Time: 6:00 p.m.-7:30
THE FUTURE STARTS HERE Lady Warriors Finish the season STRONG! Despite a huge win over Clifton to make it there the lady warriors ran out of steam in their third matchup with BUG at Regionals. Speaking from a coaches perspective I can honestly say that as sad as it is for a season to end with a loss at least we were beat by our opponent and not by ourselves. BUGC had a great day on the field and up to bat, unfortunately the lady warriors could not get things together at the plate and that came back to haunt them at the end. Dropping their final game to BUG to end their season. The Lady Warriors ended their season 7-9 winning 5 of their last 7 games. All of these young ladies should be very proud of themselves. Lady Warriors advance to 2nd round of regionals For the first time in over 20 years the Lady Warriors advance to the second round of regional play with a huge win over Clifton. The Warriors are slated to take on BUGC for the third time this season. The warriors took a lead into the 6th last time facing BUG and have some revenge on their mind!
After a loss to BUGC the Warriors come up with 2 HUGE WINS! Game 1 On Thursday Aug. 27 the Lady Warriors came up against a tough Grant Park team and went down a quick 8-0 in the first three innings. The Warriors were not to be shut out though. Lanie continued to work strong off the mound and eventually the bats woke up the defence tightened up and things started to go the Warriors way. In the fifth the Warriors cut the lead in half finally plating 4 runs. They then went out on defence faultered a little in the top of the 6th and Grant Park put 3 more runs on the board. The Lady Warriors were not ready to slow down yet though and in the bottom of the 6th put up 7 runs of their own tying the game at 11. Lexi had an amazing game at the plate blasting a huge triple that got to the fence with no problem bringing across two much needed runs and tying the game up. Going into the 7th the Lady Warriors had tied the game and needed a huge defensive stop. They did just that. Leaving a runner stranded on third. Coming up to bat in the bottom of the seventh the heart of the Lady Warriors was coming up quick. Yup, Lexi was gonna have a chance to put the game away with runners in scoring position. She did just that with another blast past the outfielders. The Lady Warriors came away with a 12-11 victory over the visiting Grant Park team. Game 2 Kankakee vs. Momence The Lady Warriors came up against a much improved Momence team on Monday Aug. 31. This had to hands down be the BEST quality win the Lady Warriors have had all year. The whole team put it together and came away with a huge victory of conference rival Momence. This article could be filled with all the names of the Lady Warriors for one thing or another. From a lead off hit by Jada to a perfect bunt by Val, a patient eye by Ashley and oh did I fail to mention the major blast off the bat of Lexi again!! Not to mention solid defence from Anna and nice pitching by Lanie! From the first hit of the game to an outstanding catch by Kendra to end it! The Lady Warriors are finally putting it all together! Great job girls :o) After a couple tough losses the Warriors get it together and win BIG over Donovan!!! After dropping a couple in a row the Lady Warriors put it all together in their 15-1 win over Donovan. The Lady Warriors were firing on all cylinders Monday night at Donovan. It was wonderful to have a solid defence behind some great work on the mound by Lanie. Lanie gave up just one hit, while striking out a bunch and only giving up 4 walks. This was a great team win. All the girls got in the game one way or another and did a fabulous job! It is a great day when all of the players get a chance to play and we come away with a big win. I knew you had it in ya ladies! Keep up the good work!
Big First Game vs. Aquinas gets the Lady Warriors their first win Lanie T. picked up her first win on the season on the mound for the Lady Warriors thanks to an overall team win! Lanie did a great job on the mound. In the opener of Saturday's double header the Lady Warriors were firing on all cylinders! Lanie was doing a great job on the mound and her defence was supporting her solidly. Lanie finished the opener with 10 strike outs and only 3 free passes! She did a great job managing her pace and following Coach Denton's pitch calls. When Lanie follows the game plan she is very hard to beat. She and Coach Denton are doing a great job calling and executing the game. Not only were things going well defensively, the Lady Warrior's offence was on fire! The Lady Warrior's put up 6 runs in the 1st, 5 runs in the 4th and 3 in the 6th to come away with a 10 run rule victory over the visiting young ladies of Aquinas. Lanie and Stoi led the way at the plate each with solid hits and 3 RBI a piece. While Jaida reach base 3 of 4 four appearances because of her great eye and patients! Tough night cap for the Lady Warriors!! The Lady Warriors did not fair as well in the night cap. Kendra L. took the mound for the Warriors in the second contest of the day. Unfortunately, she did not have the same offensive and defensive support that the Warriors supplied in the opener! Kendra did a great job battling some adverse situations and stayed focused and determined to stick to the game plan and do her best. After having dynamite bats in the first game the Lady Warriors only managed to plate 2 runs both coming in the first inning! Both runs coming off of Holly T. plate appearance! Kendra got on running out an infield hit and Holly drove her all the way in and scored herself as a result of an error and aggressive base running. Unearned runs and sleepin bats contribute to the Lady Warriors Loss The Lady Warrior's came out with tremendous energy and enthusiasm for their match up against Bradly Central and after a rather flat night on Monday it was wonderful to see!! Unfortunately, unearned runs came back to haunt the Lady Warrior. In the third inning three walks all came across to score as well as a runner that reached on an error! The Lady Warriors plated their only two runs of the contest in the third with Lanie T. and Anna P. being our lone runs scored. Although the Lady Warrior did not come away with a win in this contest there were a lot of postitives that they can build on. Namely thier energy and enthusiasm! WOW!! It was night and day compared to Mondays game. The girls were cheering for each other, very up beat, focused! It was great to see. A major step in the right direction that's for sure!.
Tough opener for the Lady Warriors The Lady Warriors started the game off great, winning the first inning 3 to 1! The bats were alive and everything looked very promising. Lanie T. did an outstanding job on the mound for the Warriors. She was hitting her pitches and throwing what was called pretty consistently. She had the batters frozen in time with her change up and was hitting her spots with the fastball. She and Coach Denton did an amazing job with pitching and calling the game! Great job to both of you!!! Unfortunately, the defense did not give consistent play and support to the pitching and catching duo of Lanie and Val. Val did a very good job battling the heat and working hard behind the plate! After putting up three quick runs in the 1st inning the bats for the Warriors went to sleep with the defensive effort. The Warriors lacked some spunk and energy in this opener, but never to fear these young ladies have what it takes to be very successful!! Have some fun Lady Warriors!! The season is young. We have many more opportunities to come away with W's!! You all have what it takes!! WELL THIS IS IT PARENTS AND PLAYERS!! OPENING DAY!! We play Maternity today at 4:15 at Kankakee High School.
