Hawks roll again!Box Score
Sep. 23, 2009 After a long 2-week layoff, the LUFC Hawks showed no sign of slumber in a 12-1 victory over Extreme McCune.
Helping lead the way was left-winger Mikayla, who slammed home 6 goals to essentially put the game out of reach. It was quite the breakout game for the strong left-footer.
With her "Nanny" visiting from Nebraska, Maya kicked off the scoring with 2 quick goals from her right wing spot. Later, she settled into the defender spot and played shutdown defense the rest of the way.
Malia played another strong game, contributing a goal in each half. Alivia, working at the right wing, added another goal. Also rotating at right wing was Grace H, who nailed home her first goal of the season. She also displayed a nice pullback move to go along with her all around solid play. Brynan, Grace C, Megan, and Kenzi also came off the bench playing quality minutes with great effort. They all helped maintain the dominating play of the Hawks.
Kirsten was arguably robbed of her first shutout, as most observers thought she stopped the Extreme shot before it crossed the goal line. Despite the questionable call, the Hawks showed an ability to jump on their opponent from the start and never let up. Next Saturday, they hope to keep the momentum going in a rematch with Futura Intensity.
