Hawks squeak by ExtremeNov. 4, 2009 The LUFC Hawks won their 3rd straight game with a 2-1 victory over Extreme McCune. Though they dominated play, out-shooting the Extreme by a wide margin, the Hawks offense could never quite get untracked. Once they missed a few shots, the team began to press even more, allowing the Extreme to hang around.
The Hawks definitely missed their big scorer Mikayla, who had 6 goals alone in the first matchup with the Extreme. But somebody had to step up to help fill the void, and that player was Brynan. She provided a huge spark off the bench, scoring both goals for the Hawks to provide a 2-0 halftime cushion. Bryn’s goals were also her first two of the season, and they were indicative of how she’s improved as the season has gone on.
After the Extreme scored to cut the lead to 2-1, defender Alivia helped extinguish any hope the Extreme had of pulling the upset, by not allowing another shot on goal. When it was over, the Hawks breathed a sigh of relief, and began to look forward to the season ending game with the Tiny Titans.
