Nov 16, 2011 - South Milwaukee Vs New Berlin West

The girls showed true spirit as they never gave up and fought through a tough called first half, ending up 7 down at half with a score of 16-9. We came out slow in the second half, as New Berlin West opened up with 5 straight points to move the score up to 21-9, as SM overlooked many open shot opportunities. We bounced back to play our hearts out and leave it all on the court, playing some tough pressure defense, coming up 4 short, yet finishing strong at 24-20. As it has been this season, defensive rebounding was lacking and will continue to be a game changer for us, especially in these tight situations. Coupled with last weeks showing of class, we continue to be impressed and are extremely proud to see these girls keep their cool, show their pride, and play tough through adversity.

Nov 15, 2011 - Greendale Vs SM First game of the Metro season

The South Milwaukee girls started the season with a 33 to 22 victory against the Greendale Hawks. The girls have improved again this year. The game consisted of better passing and attacking of the zone defense. Our running and seeing the court looks better. We will need to work on some things like help side defense and understanding of that type of game play. We will have to come out of breaks and timeouts with more focus and intensity..... we had a lapse of D starting the second half (They caught up on a 8 to 2 run). Then everyone regained composure and we looked much better. . The rebounding was good but we need to be a little more aggressive in going for the ball. Our passes were not getting turned over and our bounce passes were working. I want to commend the girls for the way they ran the clock out without running the score and looking to find the open girls. This was a text book way to run out the clock and not just run the score up because it was possible.
