The Redhawks kicked off their season in a three-game series against the University of Alabama this past weekend. It was a good baseball weekend as SEMO won 3 of the games, but not without a fight from Alabama.
The first game, Alabama poked holes through the Redhawks’ defense with SEMO committing 6 errors. The errors, combined with walks, and timely hits by Alabama, put the Redhawks in a sticky situation. Walks and timely hitting kept the Redhawks in the game. The game was tied 3-3 in the fifth when Alabama tacked on 2 more runs in the sixth. However, the home team managed to add 3 runs themselves. Clutch hitting by Kaminski, Nathan and Shannon, Michael , along with Breitenstein, Kyle and Blum, Adam ’s drawn walks and smart baserunning helped push the Redhawks ahead. Nathan McColloch pitched the full 7 innings with 3 strikeouts, 5 walks, 5 runs, but only one of which was earned.
