Small target too much for SaintsJul. 19, 2009
All Saints played their first twenty-over match for over two years with a friendly against a team from Tatworth. Winning the toss, Tatworth decided to bat first. However, they got off to a slow start with good bowling from Boyland, 0-9, and F. Wallace, 1-12. Wells-Burr and Sunderland continued Saints’ solid start with 2-17 from Wells-Burr and Sunderland with fi8gures of 1-20. Tatworth Crusaders’ batting was steady throughout with Reynolds the only one who looked threatening enough with an unbeaten 32 batting at number 4. Crusaders limped to 104 for 4. All Saints fancied their chances, and after a poor start with J. Cole and P. Blagden dismissed cheaply for 0 and 5. J. Wallace and D. Seward steadied the innings with Wallace hitting an impressive 31 before being bowled by Reynolds, 1-7 with Scriven dominating the bowling attack with 3-11. After Wallace fell, the runs seemed to dry up, with Seward struggling to get the ball away. Saints fell more and more behind the run rate and even a quick 14 from Sunderland and 15 from J. Seward was not enough to rescue the game, and All Saints fell 9 runs shy. This greatly competitive game and friendly atmosphere will be relived in three weeks time.
