Baker 9, Jay 6: Jay scored in bunches, but the Gators’ offense was more consistent in the District 1-2A victory.

Baker (8-3, 5-1) scored in every inning but two frames, including a four-run third, and got a 3-for-4 outing from Brittney Kilpatrick. She scored three times and was a home run short of the cycle.

Lauren Griffith overcame allowing a two-run homer and a grand slam by striking out 11. She also had two hits as did Tuesdae Middlebrooks, while both Carly Barton and Mollie Royal scored twice. Middlebrooks also had two RBIs.

Baker plays host to Choctawhatchee on Monday.

Baker pounds Freeport in district clash (PHOTO GALLERY)

It took the Baker softball team a little while to get going Monday, but once the Gators did they coasted to a District 1-2A victory.

Macie Wilde picked up the win and Mollie Royal collected three RBIs in Baker’s 11-0 victory over Ponce de Leon.

Royal had two hits and so did Lauren Griffith and Tuesdae Middlebrooks. Both Griffin and Middlebrooks drove in two runs as well.

Brittney Kilpatrick and Carly Barton added one hit apiece for the Gators (5-3), who play host to Freeport on Thursday.

Baker 14, Ponce de Leon 2: The Gators nearly batted around three times in the second inning when they scored all 14 of their runs.

Lauren Griffith went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Mollie Royal was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Danielle Marelli was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Dani Mayhair chipped in two RBIs.

Macie Wilde won in the circle and also tripled and scored twice.

Baker (5-2, 2-0) plays Thursday at Northview.

Baker 15, Choctawhatchee 3: Baker spotted Choctawhatchee an early lead Friday and then proceeded to pound the Indians in a one-sided win.

Mollie Royal went 5-for-5 with two doubles and three singles, Lauren Griffith went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs and Brittney Kilpatrick went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBIs and two home runs as the Gators (3-1) cruised.

Jennifer Vachon went 2-for-3 with a single and a home run for Choctaw.

Griffith powers Baker over South Walton

Baker 5, Chipley 4: Lauren Griffith struck out four and allowed one earned run in a complete game and also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the Gators’ season-opening win.

Brittney Kilpatrick was 3-for-4 with a run, Mollie Royal doubled and Carly Barton scored twice for Baker (1-0), which plays Thursday at Crestview.
