The BMS Lady Bucks hosted the 2012 Buckhorn Bash this past weekend and came out with a tournament win after a slow start Saturday morning with a loss to New Hope 7-6. After giving up 6 runs in the 1st inning the late rally was simply too much to overcome.

Sadly during the game Kylie Martin, first baseman of New Hope, suffered an injury during mid-inning warm ups.  She went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury after a routine catch at first.  After speaking to her mother, I am happy to announce that the injury was not as bad as we feared and Kylie will be back on the field in a few short weeks.  Get well soon Kylie!

Amidst the cold, windy conditions, the Lady Bucks advanced to the Championship game after knocking off Liberty, Lincoln County (TN) and Scottsboro, who they would face in the championship game.

Buckhorn went into the 5th inning down 8-4.  Lead by Kelly Johnson and Lauren Hayden, the Lady Bucks bats came alive and they had a 15 run inning and took the win 19-8.

Buckhorn would like to thank all those teams that participated in this tournament. This was a chairty tournament to raise money for East Limestone to help them rebuild their facility that was destroyed during the April 27th tornados.  Collectively, we raised $2,001.35 from our tournament to donate to East Limestone School.  Thank you everyone.
