News Article - BRA clinch league title in decider... - Dec 10, 2009

Breast Rummage Albion have won the Thursday Division 1 title after beating Inter Menan 8-7 in dramtic fashion. The BRA boys started off well as Tim Grice opened the scoring in the first minute of the game. Some excellent defending kept the scoreline down, with both sets of defenders doing their upmost restrict opposition chances. Inevitably, Tim Grice managed to find space behind the defenders but his efforts were unrewarded. The Menan goalkeeper was doing his best to frustrate Grice, and when he was beaten, he was saved by the woodwork. Jamie Brown was having an excellent game at the back and Lee Harrison provided the stability and ball retention in a midefield that was working well. However, Inter Menan started to get a foothold on the game; they retained possesion well and eventually took their chances to go 2-1 up. They played a risky strategy, they attacked with 4 men and left Grice unmarked at the back. This proved costly and Grice promptly equalised to send the teams in level at half time.

The second half began in similar fashion to the first, with Menan dominating the possesion but unable to have anything to show for their domination. BRA's resolute defending restricted them to long range shooting, where Dave Moores was on hand to save. The scoreline remained even throughout, until Menan scored 2 crucial goals from mistakes at the back, resulting in the score line being 7-6 in Menan's favour. They tried their best to frustrate BRA as they tried to hold onto what they had and see the game out. It seemed BRA were there for the taking having not played to their full potential but instead of going in for the kill, Menan decided to keep possession instead. This proved to be their downfall, as Tim Grce latched onto two loose balls and scored the equaliser, and the winner within the space of 30 seconds. Consequently, this was the last of the action and secured the vital 3 points that clinch the title for BRA. A victory well and truly deserved for their efforts this season.

News Article - BRA win league thriller - Nov 26, 2009

Breast Rummage Albion beat FC Hanley 8-7 in a pulsating game at Power League. BRA picked up from where they left off last week and went 1-0 courtesy of that man Tim Grice. However, BRA failed to convert their chances although they dominated the first 15 minutes, but were left to rue their missed chances after 2 quickfire goals put them 2-1 behind. The BRA were saved from going behind further by some brilliant saves by goalkeeper Dave Moores. However, BRA have shown in recent weeks why they are so highly rated at Power League. They went into half time level at 4-4 even though the last 10 minutes of the first half was poor by their high standards.

The second half didnt begin well at all and it looked as though this could be Hanleys day. The went 6-5 ahead early on and it remained that way until a breakthrough goal from Tim Grice levelled the scores, then Ben Nixon put BRA ahead. Grice extended the lead to 8-5 and BRA started to show the sort of performance that has won them so many plaudits this season. However, BRA do have a tendency to switch off when ahead in games and it has cost them dear many times in the past, and it looked likely to happen again in the final stages of this game. Hanley showed a fighting spirit and managed to get the score to 8-7 with 2 minutes to go. It looked inevitable they were going to score but Dave Moores and Jamie Brown were there to deny them. This game could prove pivotal in the season and it shows when the going gets tough, BRA have the ability and the concentration levels to get going.

News Article - BRA start season in style - Oct 18, 2009

BRA opened their campaign with an excellent victory over arch rivals FC Hanley. Tim Grice was on fine form, contributing 6 goals to a pulsating game. Player/Manager Ben Nixon picked up the man of the match with an excellent midfield display. He was helped by Lee Harrison, who had arguably his best game for BRA. His work rate was exceptional and played tidy football in midfield to contribute to the win. Brown and Caddy were as solid as ever at the back, and Dave Moores was outstanding in goal. BRA seem to have picked up where they left off from last season and are in such fine form at the moment. The key to winning the league is all about consistency and only time will tell if BRA can maintain such good form. Overall, a superb start to the season.
