The Bears opened play in the Three Rivers Cup tournament in Pittsburg against Ontario's East Gwillimbury Eagles. After a tense, scoreless first period, the Bears built a two-goal lead midway through the second period on goals by Marc and Silas. Both goals were assisted by Gunnar. The lead evaporated quickly as the speedy Eagles scored the next four goals. Hunter stopped the bleeding for the Bears with a power play goal in the last minute of the second period off an assist from Silas. The Eagles added to their lead midway through the third period, but Silas answered for the Bears twenty-tow seconds later off a feed from Marc. The Bears kept the pressure on, and Gunnar eventually tied the score to set up a wild finish. Aaron provided the eventual game-winner, but the Bears had to kill off a late roughing penalty taken by Stuart (the smallest player on the ice) to seal the win.
