Byrne's defeats BaronsJan. 25, 2009 1/25/09 - Dublin Chiller With Byrne's Pub dropping 2 close games to begin the season, the pressure was mounting for the team to get a win under their belt in a much tougher North division. Playing the Barons, who were comprised of employees of the The Chiller and undefeated(2-0), Byrne's knew they were in for a tough game. Bryne's struck twice in the opening stanza to stake to a 2-0 lead at the end of 1st period. The 2nd period saw the Baron's upper player getting more offensive minded and it paid off with a goal to cut the lead in half. With a back and forth 3rd period, the Byrne's squad struck once more for the insurance goal that they needed. It was then up to the defense that played well all game and some timely big saves by the goaltender in the closing minutes to preserve the 3-1 victory. Everyone played great and it was an all around team effort, with timely goals, in your face defense, and consistent goaltending.
