Barre Youth Soccer

The leaves are changing, teams are taking shape, and the fields are being lined.   Soccer season has begun in Barre.

If your child has not received a call from a coach by Wednesday Sept. 2, and you did register on time, please contact us.  Late registrations will be processed as received, but will take longer. Due to privacy issues, we will not list the rosters online.

Schedules and field directions are on this site.  Link to the age group tag on the left and find contact and field information for your team.

Our thanks to all those who registered early.  As of Sept 1, 2009 the 3rd and 4th grade girls teams and the 5th and 6th grade boys teams are full, and registration is closed.

Are you or someone you know willing to volunteer?  We still need referees!  Please e-mail Mike if you are available to help out a little or a lot!

The Barre community has an active soccer program for area youth in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Last year over 500 children focused on skill building with an emphasis on team work, fair play, and fun.

First and 2nd graders have one practice a week. Grades 3 through 6 practice on M & W or Tu & Th. Games for these groups are always on Saturdays. We cannot always accommodate practice schedule requests. The Jr. High teams have a varied game and practice schedule. Currently these teams are not open to Barre Town Elementary School 7th & 8th graders. Kindergartners and their guardians can participate in BYSA’s free Intro to Soccer program on Saturday mornings.

Enrollment time for all Barre Youth Sports Soccer Teams is now open. Hurry, though, space is limited and filling up fast!

Click here to print the Registation form.

The Kindergarten Clinic for children 4, 5 and 6 does not require advanced registration.

News Article - Two Groups Hit Capacity - Sep 2, 2009

Our thanks to all those who registered early.  As of Sept 1, 2009 the 3rd and 4th grade girls teams and the 5th and 6th grade boys teams are full, and registration is closed for these groups.

It's a positive sign for girls' soccer in Barre.  The 3rd and 4th grade girls are experiencing a higher than usual enrollment.  Six teams are barely enough to meet the demand.  Everyone who registered before Sept 1, however was assigned to a team.

The 5th and 6th grade boys have only 4 teams, due to lack of volunteer coaches.  Many boys at this age group have opted to play foorball, and their long time volunteer parents went with them.  We wish the BYSA football team the best of lunck, and look forward to watching both the soccer and football programs grow in the future.

News Article - Soccer Olympian, Abby Wambach is coming to Vermont! - Aug 28, 2009

Soccer Olympian, Abby Wambach is coming to Vermont!

Youth soccer players will have the unique opportunity in September to attend a free, local soccer clinic led by gold medalist Abby Wambach.  The clinics are hosted by MVP and are being held at The Field House on September 11, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The clinic is FREE and open to boys and girls age five and older who pre-register online.  Abby will lead activities that include passing skills, ball handling and heading.  She'll also perform an interactive demo and give participants a chance to ask her questions and win prizes.  Space is limited so register online immediately at www.mvpkidpower.com.

This year, the clinics will also feature the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Passback Program, which collects new and gently used soccer equipment for under-funded soccer programs, worldwide.  Collection bins for the equipment will be available at each facility the day of the clinic. Participants are encouraged to join MVP to help young people from around the world enjoy the game of soccer.

Abby Wambach is a native of Rochester, NY, and was a four-year starter at the University of Florida.  Her career took a spot on the national stage when she joined the U.S. Women's National Team in 2001 and the Washington Freedom in 2002.  Still playing for both teams, Abby is an Olympic gold medalist, a World Cup Champion and has been named U.S. Player of the Year, twice. On July 19, she became the fifth U.S. woman's soccer player to score 100 career international goals.

MVP Health Care's KidPower program aims to instill healthy lifestyle choices in children, working with elite athletes such as Abby Wambach to connect with kids through the sports they love.  To learn more, visit www.mvpkidpower.com.
