The 49ers lacrosse team finally got the 2010 season started this weekend after the first three games on the schedule were cancelled/postponed due to weather.  

On Saturday the 49ers hosted UNC Greensboro and despite an early scare when UNCG took a 4-3 lead, the Niners handily beat the Spartans 15-7.  Sophomore Sean Ryan led all scorers with 4 goals, followed by Senior Adam Moses with 3.  Freshmen Corey Roberts and Sam Carter each posted the first goal of their college career, as did sophomore Daniel Hedges.

On Sunday Wofford visited the UNC Charlotte campus for the first ever match up between the Terriers and the 49ers.  With all the first game nerves from the previous day gone, the 49ers didn't give the Terriers a chance to make things interesting, jumping out to a 15-0 lead in the first half before going on to win 18-5.  Senior Adam Moses continued his strong weekend, leading all scorers with 4 goals, followed by sophomores Sean Ryan and Brendan Egan, each with 3 goals.  Freshman defender Josh Crowell notched his first collegiate goal and became the first 49er long pole to score in the 2010 season.

The Fall season is complete, with all games and planned fundraisers finished.

Thanks to all the guys that actually participated in the fundraiser events, these events help keep our dues as low as possible.  To those guys that did not participate, they were mandatory events and there will be fines to compensate the team for your non-participation.

Thanks to all our fans who came out to cheer us on in our games against Appalachian and S.C.O.G., we hope to see you again for our regular season games this spring.

The 49ers kick off their limited fall schedule this weekend after having it delayed in previous weeks by the weather.  Charlotte hosts the Appalachian State University Mountaineers Friday 11/20 at 6:30pm.  Saturday 11/21 they play host to the South Charlotte Old Guys at 8:00pm.  Both games will be played on the recreational fields between the baseball stadium and the engineering buildings.

The 49ers also have the first of 2 fundraising events this weekend.  They will be setting up and tearing down the stage for a CheerSport event in Concord, NC on Sunday 11/22.  This fundraiser is MANDATORY and players should meet at the fields at no later than 5:00am.

The fall games against Elon and N.C. State have been cancelled due to weather and at this time there are no plans to make them up.  Also, because of anticipated inclement weather, the game against Appalachian originally scheduled for 11/14 has been rescheduled to 6:30pm on 11/20. 

We are also firming up some details to add a game against the South Charlotte Men's team and should have the final details of that posted shortly.
