"Captains" Practices will be held March 15th-26th
The week of March 15th-19th they will be in the East, Central or West Gyms from 6-7:30 pm.
The week of March 22nd-26th time and location have yet TBD, check back for more info or with your captains.
Players must have mouth guards and goggles that are to be worn at all times! These practices are not mandatory in any way, rather they are simply a time to bond with teammates, get to know the game, and brush up on skills before season starts!
Save the Date! April 5th at 6:15 pm Location to be High School, room TBA
Please save this evening for a mandatory parent/player meeting at 6:15 pm (following practice). It would be greatly appreciated if both player and one parent/guardian attended to learn about the upcoming season, expectations and rules, game schedule and the booster club.
We are really hoping to "up" our parent involvement this season and are really looking forward to working with and getting to know each and everyone of you parents/guardians!
Preparing for Season and Try-out Information for 2010 With the season fast approaching here are some ideas, guidelines, and suggestions for things you can do to get yourself prepared: We will be having try-outs April 5th-7th, from these we will create JV and Varsity teams. At try-outs we will be looking for: · Positive attitude and Sportsmanship · Coachability (willingness to learn, adjust, try new things, recover from errors, ect) · Stick skills: dominate and non-dominate passing and cradling, groundball pick-ups, shooting · Field awareness, spatial awareness, ability to read the play, and ball movement · Overall fitness and conditioning · Intensity/Aggressiveness · Sports intelligence (knowledge of game rules, strategy) Tips: -Seek out a Captain, Senior, or experienced Varsity player and ask them for feedback, suggestions, or even to come throw around with you - Get in the Weight room, a lifting plan is in the works, otherwise talk with Jason Gross about what you can do - Run, do sprints, get out there and move! Push yourself to work hard -Learn and know the game rules -Attend as many Captains practices as possible - Work on stick skills: find a wall, get a partner, have a parent play with you, throw ground balls to yourself in your yard, challenge yourself to go non-dominate hand, cradle while watching TV Most importantly: Be excited about playing Women’s Lacrosse-because it’s the best sport you’ll ever play! Questions? Contact: Bri Clements, Brittany Heilman, and Brigetta Ottoson or any of the coaching staff.
