Hey, soccer fans. It was another great season. Clutch goals … tremendous team defense … gallant goalkeeping … It all made for great theater and kept me riveted from start to finish.
The EBAL dominated in the NCS Division I playoffs with all four semifinalists, topped by champion Monte Vista, which showed poise beyond its years all season.
Despite how it ended, San Ramon Valley had a great run with EBAL and Tri-Valley Classic Invitation championships, giving the Wolves two-thirds of local soccer’s Triple Crown.
Bishop O’Dowd was the class of Division II, although runner-up Dublin was the section’s feel-good story. The Gaels won the DFAL title under coach Scott Scheonthal after years of struggle for the program. The Gaels’ players set a new standard for the program.
League champions College Park (DVAL) and Freedom (BVAL) also came of age and earned postseason wins.
Sorry it took so long to get these rankings out. I’ve been prepping to cover for the state wrestling championships. See ya next season. Cheers.
