it was a long, hot, and steamy Sunday afternoon, as the Drexel Hill Volunteer Fire Company took on the NBC10 Peacocks in a grueling benefit softball game. These two teams came together to help support the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, which raises money to provide scholarship aid to the children of Police Officers, Firefighters, and Emergency Medical Services who have given their lives in the line of duty. It was a great battle between both sides. The game remained tied at 1, up until the 6th inning, when the Peacocks took a 3-1 lead with a two-run home run. The Drexel Hill Volunteers fought hard to try and score a few more runs in the 7th, but were unsuccessful, as the NBC10 News Team took the victory 3-1. A great day was had by all! On behalf of the Garrettford-Drexel Hill Volunteer Fire Company, we would like thank everyone who came out and participated in this great event, especially to the NBC10 News Team, as over $1000 was raised and donated to the scholarship fund. We are already looking forward to next years bigger and better benefit softball game event!
