3 Points In Game 3 For EaglesNov. 7, 2009 Everingham Eagles 8 Everingham Eagles leap-frogged Allstars to go top of the league table after three games in an emphatic seven goal victory. This game saw the introduction of the new 'offside' rule, which worked well, effectively increasing the quality and pace of play. Sammy Wilson opened the scoring after heading in a corner from Charlie Marsh, and Charlie added a second shortly after as a result of a period of good possession by Eagles. Allstars were unlucky not to score with Sam Berridge left rueing several missed chances and Jonny Heskins unlucky to see his effort rebound off the woodwork. Eric Hogan added a goal before half-time to give Eagles a unanswered 3-0 lead. The second half started much the same as Eagles continued to apply the pressure resulting in second goals for Charlie Marsh and Eric Hogan. Amidst the rapidly deteriorating light conditions and standard of Allstars play, Sammy added two more strikes to complete his hat trick. Joe Cooper worked hard for Allstars but to no avail as Eric Hogan's long range effort skidded under 'keeper Tom Wilkinson, who gave an impressive performance despite the goals, to bring Eagles up to 8 and complete the game's second hat trick. The only consolation for Allstars was a late strike from Jonny Heskins which Eagles 'keeper James Fotheringham couldn't stop. Ref Leigh praised the Eagles team performance and awarded man of the match to Sammy Wilson for "completing his hat trick just before Eric did."
