FC Barcelona opened their 2009 Outdoor Season with a 4 - 0 win away in Portage La Prairie.  Both teams struggled early on adapting to the elements but Barça came out of its shell after 15 minutes and proceeded to put four goals away by halftime with the wind at their backs.  Going into the wind in the second half, the team had trouble mounting its speedy attack.  Several spells of possession failed to result in a goal, and the defense held its own turning away some chances from a hungry Portage side.

Goalscorers:  Venus Stewart, Sarah Schwendemann, Rochelle Fondaumiere, Jenn Borges

Game MVP:  Sarah Schwendemann; Sarah played a valuable role in the center of midfield, winning the ball, distributing excellently and contributing on the scoresheet.  Enza Rella; Enza kept the advantage in Barça's favour playing as keeper, making some key saves and boosting the confidence of the whole team.

Play of the Match:  Jenn Borges scored just before half time with a stunning half-volley, putting the game out of reach.
