Falcons vs OutlawsJan. 26, 2008 The Falcons traveled down to Orlando last Saturday night to face off against the Orlando Outlaws and had something to prove after a disappointing home opener in the rain against the Duval Panthers. The tone of the game was set early in the first quarter when Linebacker Tim Brooks picked off the Outlaws QB and raced 32 yards into the endzone to score the very first touchdown in Falcons history. Falcons 6 Outlaws 0. Emmanuel Thalerand recovered the fumbled kickoff to set up the Falcon offense inside the Outlaw 30 yard line. Two plays later Fullback Ed Valentine took the ball in the endzone on a 17 yard carry to make the score 12-0 Falcons. After a three and out for the Outlaws, kick returner Daniel Cooper raced 78 yards untouched to put the Falcons up 19-0 at the half. The third quarter would be a little different as the Falcon defense put two Outlaw QB's out of the game and WR/QB Cliff Martin came in and lead the Outlaws down the field mixing the run and the pass. Running back Jermane Boston put the Outlaws on the board with a 30 yard touchdown run to make the score 19-7 Falcons. The fourth and final quarter was a time grinding running game behind a small but scrappy offensive line, that moved the Falcons into Outlaws territory. QB Shannon Asbell audibled to WR Daniel Cooper for the first passing touchdown of the season, making the final score Falcons 25 Outlaws 7. The Falcons Offense Held the ball for 42 of the 60 minute game thanks in large part to the Falcons defense and special teams led by kicker Mason Peace. The "Dirty Bird" defense had to many standouts to list. The MVP and game ball goes to the defense for giving us the ball the whole game. Falcons next game is this Saturday Febuary 2nd at OPAA. Game time is 3pm.
