" The Big Show "

Mar. 16, 2008

The Game lived up to its hype of being "The Big Show."  It was a defensive struggle all night long, and neither offense could keep it going. After a scoreless first quarter, the Panthers struck first when QB Steve Mott evaded multiple tackles as usual and found a wide open receiver #32 Delton Jackson to put the Panthers up 6-0 as the Falcons defense blocked the extra point leaving the score at 6-0. Duval Struck again when QB Steve Mott once again did his thing and found WR #1 Terrance Holland who made a great catch between two defenders, who ran into each other and allowed Holland to go untouched into the endzone to make it 12-0 Panthers, but once again the Falcons defense blocked the extra point to make it 12-0 at the half.

The second half wasn't much different from the first, except with 5:10 left in the third quarter #52 Gaylon Mann hit a Panther RB in the backfield causing him to fumble. The ball was scooped up by #9 Mario Grey and was returned for a touchdown to put the Falcons on the board. Kicker, Mason Peace, added the extra point to make it 12-7 Panthers. The fourth quarter showed a lot of promise for the Falcons offense thanks to the "Dirty Bird" defense but couldn't capitalize on multiple plays where the receivers were wide open. The game ended, and the Panthers once again handed the Falcons another loss, only their second for the season. The Falcons fall to 6-2 on the season.

"We had our chances mutiple times and couldn't punch it in the endzone or get it close enough for Mason to kick the field goals we needed. [They] are a great team and our defense kept us in it like they have all year, but our timing was off with the QB's and their pressure got the better of us. I am very proud of my team, and the Panthers knew they were in for a dog fight, but we have two games left and it's back to practice to get ready for Orlando.  We'll see the Panthers again," added Owner and Offensive Coordinator Justin Moses.

The Falcons host the Orlando Outlaws this Saturday, March 22nd at 3pm.
