AFC Championship GameApr. 18, 2008 The Florida Falcons Flight to the top ends in Palmetto, Florida ending the season with a 9-3 record. The Falcon "road warriors" and first year program gave the Bradenton Gladiators a run for their money in the first half. The game started on a bad note allowing the Glads to return the opening kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked by #30 William Kendrick to make the score 6-0 Glads. After a defensive battle and scorless first quarter the Falcons hit pay dirt when #85 Daniel Cooper returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown and kicker #5 Mason Peace put the Falcons on top 7-6. The Gladiators battled back on a long time winding drive and settled for a field goal to make it 9-7 Glads. A bad punt snap exchange and fumble led to a Gladiator touchdown right before the half to make it 16-7 Bradenton at the half. The second half showed youth and lack of a passing game as the offense was unable to move the ball. The Gladiators offense held the ball for over almost 11 minutes adding a touchdown to their lead to make it 23-7. The fourth and final quarter showed the same results with the Glads adding two more touchdowns making it 37-7. On the final drive of the game #27 Percy Brown scored the final points of the season for the falcons catching a 20 yard touchdown pass from #18 Mark Van Wechel ending the game 37-13 and ending any hopes of making it to the big dance. The Coaching staff is very proud of the players and this inaugural season. The 2008 Falcon football team has started a tradition and a standard for years to come. We thank you so very much for all your hard work and dedication.
