 Welcome to Freebird Soccer!

Freebird Soccer (FS) is an alliance of independent youth girls soccer teams in Kansas City’s northland.  Freebird Soccer was established in the summer of 2011 to be affordable, family-friendly, and drama-free.

Our philosophy is to build and grow competitive soccer teams by helping each player maximize her own ability.  We want our players to not only have fun with the game of soccer, but also develop a team-oriented and winning mindset that will benefit them on and off the field.

May 20, 2013 - RAVENS BLACK WIN U9 A1 DIVISION TITLE WITH 3-2 VICTORY OVER COMETS JRS.!

Sunday, May 19 - A day after basically laying an egg against the KC Sol Red, the Freebird Ravens Black returned to WMSL for a season-ending rematch against the LSSA Academy Comets Jrs.  With a division title on the line, the Ravens found themselves down 1-0 at halftime.  However, the team rallied in breathtaking fashion with 3 straight goals, before eventually holding on for a 3-2 victory.  The win not only helped ease the bad taste from their KC Cup championship loss to the Comets, but it also gave the Ravens Black the U9 A1 Division Championship!

May 20, 2013 - SHORTHANDED FALCONS GRIND OUT A WIN AGAINST RAY-PEC!

Sunday, May 19 - The Freebird Falcons had a number of excuses to lose Sunday's road game against the Ray-Pec Elite Sting...

  • They were missing 4 players, including their lone goalkeeper.
  • They had but one sub for seven field positions (and the GK).
  • All but two of the Falcons had played an earlier game in the sticky heat.
  • The Falcons fell behind early to the Sting, 1-0.

Despite all of that, the Falcons chose to ignore those excuses and fight through their fatigue.  In doing so, they grinded out a tough 4-2 victory over a game Ray-Pec squad.

May 19, 2013 - HAWKS STAGE COME-FROM-BEHIND VICTORY TO STAY UNDEFEATED!

Sunday, May 19 - Before the game, Coach Duke talked to his Freebird Hawks about their rematch against the Riptide Fury being a "mental game".  How would the Hawks handle the Fury's quest for revenge (after the 5-1 Hawks win the day before)?  Could they match their intensity?  Would the Hawks play smart and aggressively, providing an early knockout punch that would have the Fury thinking "Here we go again"?  Unfortunately, the Hawks did not deal with the situation well, inexplicably falling into a 1-0 halftime hole, despite outshooting their opponent by a large margin.  But the Hawks showed great character and fight, scoring two second half goals to pull out a 2-1 comeback win!

May 19, 2013 - RAVENS BLACK STUMBLE AGAINST KC SOL RED

Saturday, May 18 - After last week's forfeit win against the KC Sol Red, the Freebird Ravens Black returned to WMSL for an actual game against the Sol.  Unfortunately, the Ravens had a 5-minute stretch where they made several mistakes and gave up 3 quick goals.  They played a much better second half, but the big hole proved to be a bit too much as they fell 5-0.

May 19, 2013 - HAWKS RIP THE FURY 5-1!

Sunday, May 19 - In a matchup of the two top teams in their division, the Freebird Hawks took on the LSSA Academy Riptide Fury.  After a relatively slow start in which the Hawks were still knocking off some rust, they exploded for 4 second half goals.  Putting on a clinic of pinpoint passing and scoring, the Hawks ran away with a convincing 5-1 victory!

May 19, 2013 - RUSTY HAWKS SLIP BY THE LUFC MYRMIDONS BLACK 2-0

Thursday, May 16 - On a rare, midweek game at WMSL, the Freebird Hawks took on the LUFC Myrmidons Black.  The Hawks hadn't played a game since their dominating run through the BFC Classic, and to no one's surprise, the long layoff showed in their play.  Though they spent the vast majority of the game on the LUFC side of the field, they struggled to finish all game long, settling for a 2-0 victory over the Myrmidons.

May 17, 2013 - FALCONS COMPLETE SWEEP OF SPIRIT WEST!

Sunday, May 12 - A day after an up-and-down victory over the LSSA Academy Spirit West, the Freebird Falcons returned home for the rematch.  Though they got off to a slow start again when it came to scoring, the Falcons put together a complete effort from start to finish in dominating the Spirit West 5-1!
