RAVENS PLAY BETTER, DEFEAT STARLINGS

Sunday, April 15 - In a rematch of a 4-0 Ravens win a week earlier, the Ravens faced off against their sister squad, the Starlings.  Determined to play better than they did the week before, the Ravens did just that, firing on all cylinders in a 12-1 win.

Jericho got things rolling early with a blast from distance to make it 1-0.  She was one of many Ravens who showed far more aggressiveness than she had the week before.  Dilyn then took a ball, cut in and out of traffic, and finished strongly to the corner to make it 2-0.  Next it was Taylor, who used her lightning-fast speed and strong leg to score a breakaway goal, making it 3-0.

The Starlings answered with a big shot off a free kick, but the Ravens responded as well, as Taylor knocked in her second goal of the game to make it 4-1.  After a scramble in the Starlings goal box, an 'own goal' was credited to Jayme to push the halftime score to 5-1.

In the second half, the Ravens continued to attack, despite Coach Duke shifting several players around.  Jayme used her strong leg to pump a shot off the Starlings keeper to make it 6-1.  Dilyn then followed with successive goals, notching her first hat trick since her rookie season.

Taylor completed her first hat trick as a Raven by blasting a corner kick off the Starlings keeper and into the goal.  Brianna then scored her first two goals of the season for the Ravens, the first off a kick-in, and the second off a free kick from Kenzi.  Taylor then finished off the scoring with a low rocket shot into the corner of the goal - her fourth score of the game - to make the final 12-1.

Coach Duke wasn't concerned about the score, but he was pleased to see the girls play with more effort and aggressiveness.  They are going to need that type of effort as they prepare to play back-to-back games against the undefeated Futura Scream Blue and the KC Select Attack.
