The 2013 FIREBALL Open Invitational  in Atlanta was another spectacular Cobb Youth Sports event. Congrats to all the winners! Cobb Youth Sports appreciates the outstanding staff of Ron Anderson Recreation center for their assistance in hosting this event and to all the CYS Parents and staff for and excellent job the whole weekend. 

GFBB 7th blk do it again!

      2nd first place finish in as many tournaments so far this season. On '7 blacks' second outing they blast through everyone and go undeated on the season to win the East Cobb playmakers Jamfest tournament this past weekend. Expectations are high for this young group as they continue to leave all thier opponents in the dust! With a Tall powerful front court and highly skilled ball handlers in the back court they have been to much for the teams they have faced thus far.

       It may be time to ask the neighbor to water the plants and feed the cat cause' we may have to go far to find the guys some Comp!!  

       8th Grade GFBB Blk came in 2nd in the East Cobb Playmakers Jamfest last weekend as they played in their second tournament of the season. After a 4 came undefeated streak to get to 1st place in thier pool they faced the atlanta condors sunday evening in the final showdown. 8th Grade GFBB put up a good fight but fell behind to the Condors to take second place in the tournament. Congratulations to the 8th Grade coaches, players and staff. They had a really good weekend! 

Congratulations and Hat's off to the 7th Grade Ga Fire Black squad taking first place This weekend in the St Patricks Day AAU invitational. This was thier first tournament of the season and they won the championship in a blow-out over Prime Time basketball by nearly 60 pts. Fine job by Coach Tyrell Perkinson and the rest of the GFBB 7th staff.

MVP of the Tournament 7th grade division was awarded to Waikel Mitchell who was beastin! the Boards all weekend. Good Job young man!

The 8th grade GFBB Black team was also in the tournament for thier first of the year! They placed third in thier division and missed the championship round by 2 pts in an exciting close contest with East Cobb Playmakers. In a game where the lead changed several times GFBB 8th shot lights-out down the stretch to come back from a 12 point deficit to take the lead with 1:01 left in the game. In the end a rebound off a missed 3 pointer led to a breakaway fastbreak by the Playmakers with .08 left on the clock and was GFBB's Undoing.  

7th and 8th look poised to have great seasons!

Cobb Youth Sports is proud to announce our partnership with the American Diabetes Association in Atlanta. We will be the Volunteer Chair for the Step Out, walk to stop diabetes event for 2013. Cobb Youth Sports will be responsible for coordinating volunteers for this event at Turner Field and oversee the duties of all volunteers. We will also sponsor the Cobb Youth Sports team to walk in the event as well.

This was the first Phenom regional camp in Georgia and revealed some athletes who displayed enough promise and showed plenty of ability to make a name for themselves. More than 70 players – primarily from the Peach State – displayed their skills over the two-day Jr. Phenom camp at All Tournament Players Park in Marietta this weekend.

This was the first camp for the state and one of several that will take place across the country. Those players who attend will have the opportunity to compete to be invited to the national camp in San Diego next summer. The players this weekend went through the drills and game play in hopes of doing just that. All of the Ga Fire players had a very good camp and finished well.

The 8th grade Ga Fire Red teams Center for Fall League, Milo King, Placed 7th in the state and recieved His invitation to the National Jr Phenom 150 camp. There he will compete against the best 150 players in his class in the nation for a coveted spot on the list. The Higher the better!

Way to go Milo!!!

The Phenom 150 camp for High school players is scheduled for Oct. 20 -21. All Ga Fire High schoolers should attend!
