The Blackjacks won their season opener vs the Titletown Muskies 45-0. It was a hard fought game with alot of hits and great plays. The Blackjacks got on the board first in the 2nd quarter with a 3 yard dive by Torry Names. They again added 3 points with a 37yard field goal by Hugo Barajas. The 2nd half the Blackjacks came out and went on a tear with 5, 2nd half picks. When asked about the game Assistant General Manager TJ Schouten said "It was a hard fought game the whole 60 minutes. We did alot of great things today but we still need work to tweak the little things. Overall I cannot complain about the outcome, just have to remember that we are 0-0 and take the season one game at a time." The Blackjacks were lead on offense by Kyler Hartl with 11 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown and Zac Carter who was 2 for 5 with 31 yards and a throwing touchdown along with 3 carries for 16 yards and a rushing touchdown. The defense was lead by Torry Names who had 9 tackles 3 1/2 sacks and Josh Vandeleest who had 3 tackles and 2 interceptions. Next week is the Blackjacks home opener against the U.P. Artcic Blast at 4pm at Lombardi Middle School.

Your Green Bay Blackjacks will be holding Three events and a few of our local sponsors, where you can meet and mingle with players and coaches. The first event will be at Greggers Bad Habit Saloon following our Intrasquad game on April 28th the game is at 2 and the event starts at 7. The second event will be on sunday May 6th at Gallaghers Pizza on West Mason from 6pm to 9pm, and Gallaghers in De Pere May 9th from 6pm to 9pm. Come on out and meet the players and coaches and get to know the guys off the field.

To our loyal fans, I apoligize for the few week absence. We have had a change in week 4's person from Josh Russell to TJ Schouten due to schedule conflicts. TJ has a long history of semi-pro football under his belt. This will be his 5th year in semi-pro football with him playing 3 years with the Green Bay Gladiators where he started at both DT and RG, 1 year with the Bay Area Vipers where he started at LG, RG, and DT, 2 years with the Manitowoc County Mariners where he has started at DT, RG, LG and Center, and this is his 2nd year with the Blackjacks. Last year he started at every position on the offensive line and DT for us. His standout game last year was the last game of the year VS the Artcic Blast where he had 9 tackles, a forced fumble, and a blocked extra point all while playing 59 minutes of the game. TJ also played football in high school (Waupun High School) and College(Lakeland College). TJ brings alot of leadership to our team with being the team captain for the Mariners for the past 2 years and ended our season last year as a team captain. He also brings years of playoff experience with 2 years with the Gladiators and last year with the Mariners along with a championship in the LFFL league in 2010. I sat down and asked TJ a few questions.

Who is your favorie football player? Gilbert Brown

What is your favorite sport other than football? College Basketball during March Madness

What is your favorite meal? Hamburgers, french fries, and gravy

Who is your hero? My Dad, he has worked hard for eveything in his life

Most memorable game? 2011 Playoff game Mariners vs Titans, close game that had alot of ups and downs for us

Favorite thing to do during your freetime? Poker or play video games

Favorite restaurant? Gallaghers, they have amazing pizza!

Who do you try and mock when you play football? a combo of Gilbert Brown and William "The Refrigerator" Perry

Favorite sports teams? Packers, Lakers, and Brewers

Goal for this year? To win a championship in both the Spring and Fall league

What songs on your ipod? I dont own one but on my phone is Jason Aldean Fly Over States

What motivates you? Knowing that you can always be better and never settling for good enough.

If you could meet one person who and why? Operah Winfrey to ask for a cool Million, since a million is nothing to her

What sport, other than football, do you like to play the most? Most people that know me will laugh at this, but tennis. I played it my senior year of high school where I was a team captain and I tried playing it in college until my college coach pu a end to that.

For this week’s segment of Getting to know your ‘Jacks I am sitting down with Trevor Thompson. Trevor plays defensive back and you will see him on the field wearing #20. This will be Trevor’s 2^nd year playing semi-pro football, both years with the Green Bay Blackjacks. He played football in high school for Freedom High School. Trevor was a shutdown corner last year for the Blackjacks and he also served as a kick returner where he ran back an 80 yard punt return in a loss to the U.P. Arctic Blast.  With a year of experience under his belt, Trevor is set up for another great season. I had a great time sitting down and talking to Trevor a bit and here are some of the questions he answered for me.

This weeks segment of Getting to know your 'Jacks is on Andrew "Rosey" Rosenbaum. Rosey will be wearing #5 this year and playing halfback. Rosey has been in the semi-pro world for 2 years now as he played with the Washington County Untouchables, otherwise known as the "U", from the WSFL, for the last 2 years. His experience will be a great asset to the team as the Blackjacks lost their starting halfback last year, Marjahone Twitty, to rival Appleton Knights. Rosey has had a great career in football from high school to semi-pro including winning a sportsmanship award and being named to the 2010 WSFL all star team. I had the priveledge to sit down and ask Rosey a few questions.

What was your best football game? In high school against Kaukauna when I had 100+ yard rushing, 50+ yards receiving, and 4 touchdowns.
