Tigers drop heartbreakerOct. 26, 2009 The JVC Black team lost a heartbreaker to Newburyport 14-12 Saturday on a rain soaked quagmire of a field in Newburyport. Dylan Perkins gained 28 yards on a 4th and long to keep the first drive alive for the Tigers. Two plays later Tommy Ginolfi scored on a 32 yard touchdown to make the score 6-0. Newburyport scored on their next possession to tie it up at 6 apiece. Ipswich came back with hard nose running by Charlie Gillis that set up a 27 yard TD run by Sam Blizard. The Tigers could not convert their extra points and that was the difference as fumbles severely limited the offense in the 2nd half.
Joe Tragert and Robert Gray both did a great job filling in for teammates who were out sick. The Tigers take on Marblehead next Saturday in Marblehead.
