Congratulations to the Undefeated Lady Bulldogs. They are now 6-0 in conference. After a close game, the Bulldogs pulled ahead in the last 2 minutes to win the game. Desirae Centeno had 13 points, Ashley Hall had 12 points, and Anais Perez added 8. Nice job!

Chicago Sky Names Schurz High School ‘Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week'

Schurz High School has an exceptional history and is located on Chicago’s northwest side. The high school was named a Chicago Landmark in 2011 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Schurz is the third largest high school in Illinois, and the five seniors, four juniors and one sophomore who make up this team are looking to stand out from the crowd as they compete for their goal of a conference title this year. The Lady Bulldogs have had success on and off the basketball court this season. They are 4-0 in conference play and 5-2 overall with a three game winning streak. The team will look to keep their winning conference record alive tonight against Lake View High School and Wells High School on Friday.

Head coach Beth Rosendahl took over the program three years ago with the goal of building a successful program on the court and one that gives back off it. This season the team will volunteer in various community events. For the past two years the team has hosted a “Shoot-A-Thon” fundraiser that they will host again this season. Both girls’ basketball teams shoot 200 free throws to raise funds for the JV and varsity teams and the school’s athletic program. “When I took over I really wanted to put an emphasis on winning on and off the court,” said Rosendahl. “At the Shoot-A-Thon we invite friends and family to help our team and school and I hope we can build more and more on that.” In the last two years the Shoot-A-Thon has raised over $1,000.

As an “Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week” award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2012 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world’s best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.

The Lady Bulldogs swept Lake View Wednesday Night. The Varsity Team defeated Lake View 51-14. Ashley Hall, Sammah Jabra, Desirae Centeno, Anais Perez, Beba Navarro, Brianna Boateng, Bianca Dominguez and Jasmine Ortiz all scored for the Bulldogs.

The JV team defeated Lake View 35-15. The team was led by Briana Ervin with 12 points. Jackie Rodriguez added 11 points and Tashona Clark had 8 points. Great job ladies!!

The Winning Streak Continues

Congratulations!!! The Varsity Team beat Foreman 50-25 in Friday night's game. The team was led by Desirae Centeno with 21 points, followed by Ashley Hall and Sammah Jabra both with 8 points. Beba Navarro, Jasmine Pineda, Bianca Dominguez, and Yaney Crespo did a great job pressing in the second half to help bring their team to victory. Great job to all the girls! The JV team beat Foreman 36 - 7. The JV team had tremendous defense throughout the entire game. Tashona Clark led the team with 11 points. Magali Flores and Sadiah Alsarraj each had 8 points.

3-0 Conference Record

 Congratulations to the Lady Bulldogs!!! Both the JV and Varsity beat Kelvyn Park in yesterday's games. The Varsity Team defeated K.P 50-14 and the JV team defeated K.P 47-11.

Great Job to all of the ladies in yesterday’s game. Desirae Centeno (16 points), Anais Perez (5 points), Ashely Hall (8points), Beba Navarro (5 points), Sammah Jabra (8 points), Jasmine Ortiz (5 points), Bianca Dominguez (3 points), and Jasmine Pineda (2 points) all scored. Yaney Crespo and Briana Boateng played tremendous defense, grabbing numerous steals!!

The JV team was led by Jackie Rodriguez with 18 points!! Mariah Vera added another 9 points.

Congratulations to the girls on their win over North Grand.

The Varsity team defeated North Grand 46-38. Anais Perez had 8 points, Desirae Centeno had 18 points, Ashley Hall had 11 points, Sammah Jabra had 6, and Beba Navarro added 3. The girls play K.P on Wednesday.

The JV team also defeated North Grand with a 36-10 victory. Tashona Clark had 12 points and Sadiah Alsarraj had 20 points hitting 4 - 3 pointers!!

1st Conference Game Win!

Congratulations to the Lady Bulldogs for their 1st Conference game win! Both the JV and Varsity defeated Amundsen in Monday night's game. The Varsity team won 43-35 in overtime. Again, for the second time, Amundsen came out with the early lead. The Bulldogs did not give up, and fought back in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime. Ashley Hall, Desirae Centeno, and Beba Navarro all hit key free throws to win the game. Great job to all the ladies on their hard work and first conference win.

The JV team beat Amundsen 42-19. They came out strong early and kept the lead the entire game. The JV team was led by Sadiah Alsarraj with 17 points. Great job to all the girls!
