It was the annual intra-squad scrimmage game for the Lady Pups, giving the young ladies their first taste of live action for the 2009 - 2010 season. With less than two weeks of practice under their belt, it was obvious that the Lady Pups have a lot to improve on for the season. However, there were plenty of positives to take away from the game, and all the young ladies played their hearts out. The black team jumped out to an early 9 to 0 lead in the first quarter, only to see the lead disappear by halftime as the white team led 12 to 9 at the break. In the third quarter the black team outscored the white team by a score of 8 to 0 and held on to win the game 24 to 18. Jasmine Lyles led the black team with 14 points, Chase Kilgore added 5, Shea Mayweather scored 3, and Allison Sebastian had 2 points. For the white team, Shakari Smith and Daija Rupert led the scoring with 4 points apiece. Lakeisha Hall, Taylor Sanders, Jordan Bell, Jermaira Long, and Ashley Johnson all added 2 points for the white team. The Lady Pups now have to prepare for the Barrow County Pre-Season Tournament, which starts next Tuesday, November 17. Westside Middle School will be visiting Winder Barrow Middle School for the first round game, which begins at 4:30. Go Lady Pups!
