Recap on Games played in Pre Season to Date

Ballinamallard Reserves 3-2 Lisbellaw United (Tuesday 31st July)

Ballinamallard found the net twice in the closing 10minutes to book their place in the Coffey Cup Final against Enniskillen Town. In an intriguing contest, chances were at a premium but when Maggie Maguire was adjusted to have fouled Stephen Sheridan in the penalty box, Darren Higginbottom had a glorious chance to give the ‘Mallards the lead. His penalty though was blazed well over the bar in what the best chance of a scoreless first half.

Stuart Cochraine met a Matthew Keenan free kick to head Lisbellaw in front early in the second half only for Sheridan to equalise shortly after when put through on goal, coolly lifting the ball over McFrederick.

The ‘Law hit the front with 18minutes remaining, Ricky Carroll bundling home from close range and over the next 10minutes the leaders looked comfortable. A misplaced Darren Rogers pass found its way to ‘Mallard substitute John Edgar who advanced on the Lisbellaw goal and rounded McFrederick for 2-2.

Referee Tim Marshall took centre stage in the closing moments as he failed to give Lisbellaw what looked like a nailed on penalty only to award Ballinamallard a second penalty of the game at the other end. This time ex-Lisbellaw man Chris Crilly stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way giving his new team the victory.

He has connections in Lisbelllaw and the game itself was only secondary on the day.

Ahoghill proved to be stubborn opponents and it took Lisbellaw 40minutes to make the breakthrough, Raymond Carroll heading home at the back post. In the second half the hosts dictated the game and were to run in goals from Matthew McFrederick (2), Kyle McCleery and Ricky Mullen.
