Loss To CYMS in Orange
Aug. 6, 2012 The "King's Engineering" Storm travelled to Orange to play CYMS in round eleven of the competition and were eventually beaten 32 - 24 after some uncharacteristic flimsy defence allowed the Orange side to even up their loss to Storm from their first meeting this season.
CYMS scored first with a converted try early before Storm scored three of their own courtesy of Emmanuel Kuban (2) and Ryan Clark to lead 14 - 6 early in the first half before defensive lapses from the Lithgow side saw the home side score a further three tries of their own in the first half to go to the break leading 22 - 14.
A try from Wayde Egan after the break which was converted by Sam Cameron narrowed the gap to 22 - 20 for a short time before a further converted try to CYMS took their lead back to eight points. Darcy Allan was heavily involved throughout the game in both defence and hit-ups and he gave his side a chance late in the game with a try but it was to no avail as CYMS again exploited gaps in the defensive line to eventually win 32 - 24.
Best and fairest points were awarded to Darcy Allan (3), Wayde Egan (2) and Emmanuel Kuban (1) for their commitment in defence and it was also these three players that worried the CYMS defence the most throughout the match. Emmanuel was also the standout pick as Player's Player.
