News Article - ELITE GO 2-0, ROLL REBELS 15-1 - Mar 15, 2010

The Las Vegas Elite moved to 2-0 Sunday afternoon, defeating the Vegas Rebels 15-1. The Rebels scored the first run of the game, but it was all Elite after that.

The Elite tied the game at one, in the bottom of the first inning, when Beau Capanna tripled with one out and stole home with two out, with Ryan McHale up to bat.

The game opened up in the second inning when the Elite put a nine spot on the board to make the score 10-1. Myles Denson started the inning with a 3-1 walk, Isaiah Blaylock down 1-2 battled and worked a walk, and with one out Nick Sylvester singled to score two. Parker McHaled then saw four balls in a row for a walk, then Capanna came up and tripled for the second time in two at-bats driving in two runs. Spencer Faught then singled in Capanna and then Ryan McHale came up and doubled in Capanna. Sam Pastrone then battled to a full count and then walked and with two out Blaylock doubled in McHale and Pastrone. Jake Sylvester then doubled in Blaylock to make the score 10-1.

Then in the third inning after Capanna had singled and scored on a overthrow, R. McHale came up with one out and hit a bomb over the left center field fence to make it 12-1. But the Elite were not done yet, in the fourth inning, Denson leads off with a single, Blaylock singles in Denson, Sellinger singles and the Sylvester not done for the day turns on a 3-2 pitch and hit a line drive over the left center field fence for his first homer of the season.

A great day for the Elite on the mound with Myles Denson throwing three good innings and Sam Pastrone coming in and throwing the last two.

Our next game will be in the USSSA tourney April 1-3 at BLD. It should be a great tourney!

See ya at the field!

News Article - LVBA SPRING LEAGUE STARTS OFF WITH A BANG FOR ELITE, DEFEAT MAD DAWGS 10-0 - Mar 7, 2010

The Las Vegas Elite started off the LVBA Spring League in great fashion.

The game was action packed all the way through for the Elite. It was a game which included a 14-hit attack and 4 of those were homers.

It was also a great game for the Elite on the defensive side, with Beau Capanna leading the way with 5, 6-3 putouts and 1- PO-6.

The action started in the first inning with Ryan McHale hitting a laser shot up the middle, fortunately for Moe Peralta, the ball just missed him thankfully.

In the second inning, Chris Dunn, lead off the inning hitting a 1-0 pitch over the left center field fence, giving the Elite the lead for good.

In the third inning, Parker McHale lead off the inning with a single, Capanna followed with a single, then R. McHale hit a bomb to straight away center about 270 ft. Sam Pastrone followed with a single and scored when Dunn doubled to the outfield. After a fly out to the first baseman and a 5-3 out, Nick Sylvester singled scoring Dunn from third. John Maxfield then singled, and the inning ended with a fly out to left field. 7 hits and 5 runs across.

In the fourth inning, Capanna lead off the inning with a shot over the left center field fence which got out of the yard in less than 3 seconds. R. McHale then followed with a single up the middle, Pastrone added another single, then Dunn not finished yet, stepped up to the plate and turned on an inside pitch which shot out of the park over the right field fence. Jake Sellinger then singled and eventually scored before the third out, making the score 11-0.

The Elite also enjoyed a great day on the bump. Starting Trent Bixby pitched superbly, only giving up 2 hits through three innings and Chris Dunn came in to put a wrap on the game with a three up, three down fourth.

The Elite were looking forward to their second game of the day, when the clouds began to roll in. Just when the first pitch was thrown, the rain began to fall and eventually fell hard enough to end the game with only the second batter coming to the plate.

What a way to start the season!!! There is alot more excitement to follow!

Our next game is scheduled for Sunday the 14th, at 2:30 p.m., on the south field at the Ridges. See ya there!!!!!!!

News Article - ELITE BATTLE PLAY HARD SNIPERS BLUE, WIN ON WALK OFF HOME RUN 5-4 - Oct 30, 2009

In the first game of the Desert Fall Classic, the Las Vegas Elite struggled early with the slower pitching of the Snipers, but ended up figuring it out before it was to late. The proof of that was, when in the bottom of the fifth inning, Ryan McHale sent the first pitch thrown to him, deep over the left field fence. It must have cleared the 250 ft. fence by a minimun of forty feet! The second it was hit, everyone watching the game knew the ballgame was over.

The Elite fell behind early, committing an error, along with some pass balls, allowing the Snipers to go up 1-0 in the first inning.

In the second, the Snipers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Elite bounced back with 2 in the bottom of the inning, to tie the score through two innings.

The Snipers took a 4-2 lead, but the Elite wouldn't give up and tied the scored again at four.

The time limit was almost up and going into the fifth inning, the Elite needed to just hold the Snipers, then all they would have to do was score and the game would be over. Even if they didn't score, the game would end in a tie.

The Elite held, and a great ending was about to happen. McHale stepped into the box looking for one pitch, and guess what, he got it. As was said earlier, the moment he hit it, everyone knew the fence was not going to hold that ball in the park. A walk off home run by Lump. There was also one other home run hit by the Elite, a key shot hit by Hayden "Freddie" LeCates.

Hopefully, the Elite have more dingers saved for tomorrow and Sunday. Game times for Saturday are 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

See ya at the field! Remember wear gray pants and blue shirt for Saturdays games.
