The Las Vegas Shamrocks Club Baseball team has played our final game. After a very successful run at Cooperstown in early August 2009, where the Rocks finished 4-2 in pool play, the team and it's players have moved on to play for new teams in Las Vegas. As I look back on the past 3+ seasons with the Shamrocks, I am very proud of our accomplishments...and there are many! Here is a list of Shamrock Alums and we wish them all the very best in their baseball careers!

The Rocks fininshed the LVBA Spring League with an overall record of 10-6, playing up in age vs. 12U players. The Rocks defeated every 12 year old team that they played in the Spring League. It was a great barometer for us moving forward.
We competed in several tourneys also, including trips to California and Utah. The Rocks reached the semifinals and Finals in some of these tourneys, we did not however, capture a Tourney championship.
At one point this season, the Rocks ranked in the top 5 of Western Region AAA teams.
The team has high hopes for the upcoming fall season which will begin in August. The 12 players that made it all happen are (in no particular order) Jack Stevens Trevor Jackson Beau Capanna Dominic Grant Jonathan Borashan Justin Rasavage Zachary Grant Chris Opolka Nickou Missaghi Spencer Faught Nick Melinchok Mauricio Peralta
News Article - Easter Spring USSSA Tourney Recap - Apr 10, 2009 Facing 4 very good teams, the Rocks were unable to get a win over the Easter Weekend. A couple of poor 1st innings cost the Rocks on Day 1, dropping a 6-3 decision to the LV Elite and a 5-3 final to the East County Rattlers (CA). On a positive note, Nickou Missaghi and Chris Opolka provided 7 innings of scoreless relief in the two games, but we couldn't rally in either game from big 1st inning holes. On Day 2, the Rocks battled two Major division teams. 1st up were the LV Warriors - Red and the Rocks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but the Warriors battled back and beat us 13-8. In Game 2, the Santa Clarita Lightning took advantage of too many Rocks errors and boat raced the Rocks, 14-5. For the tourney, Jack Stevens and Trevor Jackson led the Rocks offensively with many quality at-bats. The Rocks return to LVBA Spring League action after the Easter Holiday weekend.
News Article - St. Patrick's Day Tourney Recap - Mar 15, 2009
The Rocks headed to Palm Springs, CA for a two day, 4 game tournament at the Big League Dreams Park. The Rocks started the tourney with a disappointing effort against the Palm Desert Scrubs, losing 7-5. In Game 2, the Rocks dropped a much better game, 5-2 to the I.E. Patriots. (Ranked #4 in the West Region).
On Day 2, the Rocks played the eventual tourney champs, the Desert Crush, and dropped a another tough game, 4-0. The Rocks finally got a win and beat the Menifee Wildcats 12-4. Overall, the Rocks went 1-3 and played without Chris and Spencer on Saturday. It was our first trip to California as a group. Overall, our hitting was lacking, the pitching and defense were solid. The Rocks had only 13 hits in the first 3 games, before busting loose for 15 hits in game 4.
Next tourney will be in Las Vegas, Easter Weekend.

The Shamrocks finished off another nice weekend with a 3rd place finish out of 25 teams in the annual RMSB President's Day Tournament in St. George, UT. The Rocks went 3-1 in pool play with wins over the Utah Fire, Vegas Wildcards and Las Vegas Hawks. Congratulations to Mauricio Peralta, who threw a no-hitter against the Hawks on Sunday! Great Job, Mo! The Rocks advanced to the playoff round and in the quarterfinals, the Rocks got another strong pitching performance, this time from Beau Capanna and the Rocks beat Sandlot (UT) Thunder, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, the Rocks again squared up against the Las Vegas Badgers. We jumped out to a 5-0 lead only to see the Badgers rally to cut the lead to 5-4 thru 5 innings. In the top of the 6th, the Rocks scored 3 more runs, 2 on a monster Home Run by Beau (his first!), to take an 8-4 lead into the bottom of the 6th. The Badgers didn't quit and score 6 times in the 6th, thanks to some defensive lapses from us. Final Score 10-8 Badgers. All 12 boys contributed to the successful weekend, it's the Rocks 4th straight tournament to advance to the playoff round. For the weekend the Rocks went 4-2 and outscored their opponents 67-25. Great Job Rocks! Also, Congrats to Trevor (2 homers) and Beau (1 homer).
