Bulldogs Drop Heartbreaker to MeekerJan. 7, 2009 KENT, WA -- After rallying from a five point deficit at the end of the third quarter, and taking a ten point lead with two minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Mill Creek Bulldogs had a series of strange calls and decisions result in a stunning loss when the Meeker Pioneers hit a running three pointer banking off the glass for the win. While nothing should be taken away from a tremendous comeback by Meeker, the Bulldogs left the gym for the first time feeling the results of having to play every game on their opponents’ home floor. In what was considered a home game for the Bulldogs, nothing felt or looked like home in the four quarters of this game. Coach Tom Riddell summed up the game by stating, “Losing is one thing, but like this? This is very hard to swallow. Now we have to find a way to keep our chins up, find a way to recover, and never put ourselves in this type of situation again.” The loss drops the Bulldogs to 6-1, in a three-way tie for first place with Meeker and Cedar Heights. Mill Creek hits the hardwood in three games next week, playing at Tahoma Gold on Monday, Mattson on Tuesday, and Meridian on Thursday.
