This Saturday they defeated the MYSL Eagles 21-20 in the Riddell Youth Football Classic. J Barron , R Villines and M Woodley all scored touchdowns for the Spartans.
News Article - Spartans beat Packers to advance to Championship - Nov 5, 2009 The MYSL Spartans faced their biggest challenge this weekend as they faced off against the Packers in a first round playoff game. The Spartan defense began the game by intercepting a pass by the Packer quarterback. On the ensuing play, runningback D Isabel ran 60 yards for the first score of the game. After that, the Packers scored 21 unaswered points to take a 21-7 halftime lead. J Barron scored on two runs in the second half and D Isabel also scored from a few yards out to give the Spartans a 26-21 lead and secured them a victory. The Spartans willl play the MYSL Eagles this Saturday at Custer stadium at 6:30 pm for the League Championship. **Custer High School** (below)
New Photo Gallery - Packers - *playoff* - Oct 31, 2009 News Article - First round matchup - Spartans vs Packers - "Round 3" - Oct 26, 2009 On Saturday October 31st, for the third time this season, the MYSL Spartans will play the Packers. This time however, it will be a playoff game and for team, it will be their last game. The winner will play in the championship game at Custer Stadium on November 7th. The game is scheduled to be played at Garden Homes school at 2:30pm.
News Article - Spartans finish regular season undefeated - Oct 23, 2009 The MYSL Spartans capped off an unforgettable regular season by defeating the Steelers 16 - 0, giving them an undefeated regular season. The Spartan defense once again lead the way by securing their sixth shut out of the season. The Steeler offense was limited to a mere five total yards of offense and on the season opposing offenses have not even gained a yard, they have given up fifty one! R Villines lead the defense with five tackles, making him the team leader on the season. X Conner had two sacks, giving him a team best ten for the year. On offense, the Spartans seem to be hitting full stride at just the right time. Eight different players carried the ball 24 times for 191 yards and two touchdowns. The first came on a 20 yard run by E. Combs and the other on a 5 yard run by D Holston.
