Darren Blakely is entering his third year as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at the helm of the Mighty Panthers of Pell City High School.  Coach Blakely has high hopes to build a winning tradition at Pell City for many years to come.

Coach Blakely was the Head Asstistant Coach at Sumter County High School in York, Alabama for 15 years under Hall of Famer Coach Johnny Patrick.  While at Sumter County, he had the pleasure of being apart of 6 State Championships (1988, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2005) and 2 State Runner up (1995 and 2006), with one of these as a player in 1988.  Coach Blakely served one year at Hillcrest Middle School as a assistant under Steve Sims.  Coach Blakely went on to play two years at Brewer State Junior College (1988-1990) and now the Beville State Community Collge for Dr. Bobby Hathcock and played at Livingston University (1990- 1992) now the University of West Alabama for Rick Reedy.

Coach Blakely was selected All-State  and Team Captain during his junior and senior years of high school.  Coach Blakely averaged 33.5 points per game his junior year and 26.5 his senior year.  Coach Blakely has a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Counseling.  Coach Blakely has twos sons Dominique 22 and Julian 17.
