SELMA, AL – The University of New Orleans football team was handed its first loss of the season, dropping a 78-14 decision at Concordia College-Selma on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (2-3) scored the first 37 points and the final 34 points of the game. A 23-yard touchdown pass from Chris Brady (Holy Cross/Southern Miss) to Akeem Davis (McDonough 35) got the Privateers (2-1) on the board at the 7:33 mark of the second quarter. UNO would enter the locker room at halftime trailing 44-14 after Brady’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Josh Giambelluca (John Ehret) on the final play from scrimmage. Brady’s TD’s were his first and second of the year.

Brady also threw two interceptions which were both returned for touchdowns late in the third quarter.

Concordia used four different scoring plays of 50 or more yards to run away with the win. The Hornets picked up their second straight victory after upending NCAA Division I Savannah State last week.

The Privateers will travel to Edwardsville, IL next Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
