Jun 10, 2013 - Rifles Shoot For A Cure At Relay For Life 2013
Congratulations Rifles on raising over $6000.00 for this years Relay For Life event held June 7-8. A big thanks to the Rifle players who helped organize and an even bigger thank you to the Duncan family for helping with some very sizable donations! Well done team!
Jun 9, 2013 - Rifles Drop Second Loss On The Road
The Regina Rifles lost their second game of the season on the road to the hometown Saskatoon Stealers by a tight score of 12-11. Scoring for the Rifles was Tristan Frei with 7 goals, Taylor Frei with two goals, Leighton Goebel and Logan McMurtry added singles. Cody Braddock was in goal for the loss.
The Regina Rifles suffered their first loss of the season in a 9-8 battle with the Regina Riot. "We certainly didn’t have our best game today in all areas on the floor" said Coach Bob Frei. The Riot had a break-out second period scoring 6 goals and allowing only 3 by the Rifles. "Although we were missing some of our top D men and leading scorer you still have to hand it to the Riot for bringing their A game" lamented coach Frei. Scoring for the Rifles was Taylor Frei with 4 goals, Taylor Mayer chipped in with 2 goals and singles came from Leighton Goebel and Logan McMurtry. Losing goaltender was Cody Braddock.
May 26, 2013 - Braddock Shuts The Door On The Big Dogs
Cody Braddock closed the door on the home team Estevan Big Dogs for a decisive 16-4 win by the Regina Rifles. Braddock settled in after the first period when he allowed 2 goals early but was stellar for the remainder of the game. The Rifles defence was once again strong and continues to strengthen as they get more confident in their ability to defend as a unit. Leading the high scoring Rifle offense was Tristan Frei with 6 goals, Taylor Frei 3 goals, Leighton Goebel 3 goals, Logan McMurtry 2 goals, Taylor Mayer 1 goal and Carson Mayer 1 goal. Rifles next PGLL action is Sunday June 2 when they take on the Regina Riot.
May 26, 2013 - Rifles Remain Undefeated At Home With Win Over Smash
The Regina Rifles remain undefeated at home in their first 3 games with a 10-8 win over the visiting Saskatoon Smash on Saturday night. "The Rifles defence played a big role in the victory. Josh Schwindt, Derek Scott, Keaton Hain, Nick Howell, Kevin Orthner, Conner Black and Carson Mayer all had a very strong shutdown game" says Rifles head coach Bob Frei. The Rifles scoring was lead by Taylor Mayer with 3 goals, Tristan Frei with 2 goals and chipping in with one goal each were Mason Belanger, Taylor frei, Jesse Duncan, Josh Schwindt and Logan McMurtry. Getting the win in goal for the Rifles was Cody Braddock. Next Rifles action is Sunday May 26th when they travel to Estevan to take on the Big Dogs.
May 16, 2013 - Rifles Tame Mustangs For Second Win
The Regina Rifles defeated the visiting Moose Jaw Mustangs 12-5 in PGLL action Thursday. The Rifles stingy defence only allowed 2 even strength goals over 60 minutes. Cody Braddock recorded the win in net for the Rifles. Logan McMurtry, Taylor Frei ,Tristan Frei and Taylor Mayer tallied for 2 goals each. Adding singles were Blake Schindel, Brock Schindel, Leighton Goebel and Colton Crone. Rifles next home action is Saturday May 25th at 7:00pm when the host the Saskatoon Smash at the Cooperators Center.
