Welcome to the 2009-2010 Seymour High School Varsity Football cheerleading website! The 2009-2010 Seymour High school Football Cheerleading squad was chosen by a panel of UT Cheerleaders on April 9, 2009. They chose 20 of 27 candidates. Tryouts were a week-long process which included memorizing a cheer and a dance, then performing them in front of the judges and audience. The squad currently consists of two seniors, 6 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 4 freshmen. The squad hosted a private cheerleading camp in July at Seymour High school. The camp was lead by two UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) instructors, Candace and AJ. Candace is a cheerleader at the University of Tennessee, and AJ is a cheerleader for Carson-Newman College. They helped the girls to learn skills and technique, as well as 2 dances, 3 cheers, and numerous stunts. The tiring week was full of fun and squad bonding. After the first night of camp, some of the cheerleaders went to Chapman Pool for a Cheerleading pool party! The SHS Cheerleaders are also responsible for the Seymour Football Program Book. Included in the books is a Football player Roster that includes each football players' name, number, and year in school. They are sold at all home football games, and cost $3. Proceeds are fundraising for the Seymour Cheerleaders. There will be another cheerleading tryout in late September for students interested in trying out for the basketball cheerleading squad. The number of girls that will be taken is not known at this time, but more information about the tryout will be available within the next few weeks. Thank you for your support!
Seniors: Kelsey Church, Kayla McCarter, and Bailey Webb. Juniors: Megan Stinnett, Megan Daniel, Erin Blaydes, Shelby Phillips, and Jory Childress. Sophomores: Hannah Humble, Nicole Elford, Morgan Snapp, Heather Clark, Rachel Coleman, Lacy Clark, Elizabeth Pollard, and Shelby Clark. Freshmen: Kat Snyder, Adrianna Case, Megan Watson, Kelly Plemons, Mikalea Bohanon, and Lakin Householder. The 6 additions to the basketball cheerleading squad were made on Thursday, October 8th. The 11 candidates were chosen by a seperate pannel of judges. They were scored on Spirit and enthusiasm, jumps, optional tumbling, one cheer, one chant, and one dance. Two of the football cheerleaders are not cheering basketball, making us a squad of 22. The squad will be split into two separate squads to cheer basketball.
