North Metro Aftershock 2013

The Mission of the North Metro Aftershock is to provide a fun experience for girls who want to play at the highest levels, to improve their skill in a competitive environment during the spring and summer. 

Aftershock club goals:

Every player in our program who wants to play college basketball will have that opportunity.

Every player in our club will leave our club a better player than when they came in.

Every player will get out of the experience what they put in.

May 6, 2013 - Aftershock Director Named Staples-Motley Boys Head Coach.

Micheal Poncelet, director of the North Metro Aftershock has been named head boys basketball coach at Staples-Motley high school.  Micheal takes over the program from long time assistant Ray Gildow who resigned in April.  Coach Gildow lead the Cardinal's for two season and was an assistant for 28 years under legendary coach Lynn Peterson.

May 6, 2013 - Congratulations Alexis Mathews

Alexis Mathews of Centennial and the Aftershock 7th grade team lead all 7th grade qualifier scorers at the recent MN AAU qualifier.  Mathews beat out Centennial teammate Sydney Stapleton of North Tartan for the scoring title.

May 6, 2013 - Big Weekend For Aftershock

The North Metro Aftershock had a very successful weekend at the Minnesota AAU qualifier.  7th Grade defeated the MN 36ers and the Minnesota Heat to win their pool and advance to the Minnesota State Championship.  10th Grade South defeated MN Gym Rats and the MN 36ers to win their pool and advance to the Championships.  11th Grade lost their opening game but rallied to beat Real Athletics and the Minnesota Stars to advance to the Championships.  Congratulations to all three teams.

Apr 17, 2013 - 11th and 7th Grade teams cap off impressive weekend

The Aftershock 11th grade team lost a heartbreaker against the All Iowa Attack in their opening game of the Midwest Kickoff.  With seconds on the clock several go ahead attempts were missed before AIA grabbed the rebound and drew a foul sending them to the line and a two point victory.  Coach Ring's team regrouped and went on to beat the Minnesota Suns and Minnesota Heat to finish 5th for the weekend.  Caitie Ring lead the Aftershock in scoring averaging 9 a game with a weekend high of 14.  Charity Ridlon lead the team in rebounding averaging 5 a game with a weekend high of 8.

The Aftershock 7th grade team got off to a slow start against Crossfiire getting down by as much as 16 points before roaring back in the second half to pull the game within two before eventually losing.  The group then went on to roll through their next two games winning easily against the North Iowa Fire and the Minnesota Suns Clarksin to finish 5th.

Mar 23, 2013 - Practice Starts Tuesday

The 2013 North Metro Aftershock Spring season kicks off Tuesday with the 10th grade North team's first practice at Coon Rapids Middle School.  The 7th and 11th and 12th grade teams will begin practice on April 1st.  The 8th grade team April 2nd and the 10th grade South team April 15th.  Good luck to all of the teams looking forward to a great season. 

Mar 5, 2013 - Open Tryout

The Aftershock will be hosting open tryouts on March 18th and 19th.  7th and 8th grade will tryout at Island Lake Elementary School from 5:00-6:30 March 19th.

9th-11th will tryout at Chippewa Middle School from 8:00-10:00 March 18th.
