Pirate Football 2000-2009DECADE OF DOMINANCE
As the 2000's began, the Sinton Pirates started a new era by dominating each district rival they came across and produced more victories than any other decade. The Pirates proclaimed themselves as one of the best teams in South Texas. Being the 'center of attention' they were highlighted in the media and in newspapers . Fans started a new term "Pirate Nation" in honor of the Sinton Pirates, In 2001 Sinton made history by advancing to the state finals in Class 3A. During that 10 year span the Pirates record history 92-32. With five concective district championships 2001-2005 with a total of six championships. In 2007 the Pirates missed the playoffs for the first time since 1997 with a season record of 1-9. Out of the whole 10 year regular season games only two were canceled due to Hurricane Rita (2005) and Hurricane Ike (2008). Sinton gave the state one of the largest single-season turnaround performances in recent memory; it's jump from 1-9 in 2007 to 11-1 in 2008 stunned South Texas and sent it to the third round of the playoffs. Which earned them Texas Football's Class 3A "Army Strong Team Of Year" award. The winning tradition at SHS that continued since 2000 were under three different coaches Brent Davis (1998-2001), Jimmie Mitchell (2002-2006) and current coach Tom Allen (2007-Present). As we head into a new decade Allen still is not done with Pirate Nation. He is ready to begin 2010 with another winning season. His goal is to take us back to the state finals, it's not the end it's just another chapter in the Pirate Legacy that all former Pirates began since the beginning of Pirate Football in the early 1900's.
