Girls Try-Outs Update...

The Mass Skyhawks will have a third try-out date for its girls teams (date to be announced soon). The Mass Skyhawks welcome girls in grades 4th - 8th to try-out. The 2010 Mass Skyhawks are looking to field:

• 5th grade girls team (4th grade girls may try-out for this team)
• 6th grade girls team
• 7th grade girls team
• 8th grade girls team
• 9th grade girls team (if there is enough interest)

Note: (7th grade girls team looking for a low post player and a point or shooting guard)

Looking For Coaches

The Mass Skyhawks have a few more coaching openings for our upcoming Spring Tournament Season. We are looking for experienced basketball coaches or recent grads with high school/collegiate playing experience looking to gain coaching experience. We are currently looking for:

• Boys 9th Grade Coach
• Boys 5th Grade Coach

Mass Skyhawks AAU Girls Try-Outs

The Mass Skyhawks will be having its second try-out for its 2010 AAU Spring Tournament Girls Basketball Teams on Sunday, January 10th from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at the Billerica Boys & Girls Club. Try-outs are for girls in the 4th - 8th grade. Girls from any city ot town may try-out. There is a $30 try-out fee. The Billerica Boys & Girls Club is located on 19 Campbell Rd. in Billerica, MA.

The Mass Skyhawks Teams compete in 6-8 State, Regional and Invitational Tournaments in the New England area. The spring season runs from mid March - June. Our teams have competed at tournaments at: UConn, Univ of New Haven, UMass Boston, UMass Lowell, Holy Cross, UNH, Endicott College, Gordon College and many others. If a player is selected to play on a team the fee is $500 for the Spring Season. Returning players whose uniform still fits the fee would be $450. Players from any community may try-out. This a great opportunity for players to looking to improve their skills, compete against the best talent in the region, and make new teammates and friendships that will last a lifetime. Our past and present players have come from: Tewksbury, Billerica, Wilmington, Lowell, North Reading, reading, Woburn, Westford, Methuen, Andover, Lawrence, Boxboro, and Wakefield.

Skyhawks Boys In Showcase Tournament

The Skyhawks boys 14U team closes out its spring season this weekend at the Boys Showcase Tournament at Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro, MA. The Mass Skyhawks will be competing in Pool D 14U Division. We wish our team Good Luck! The schedule is as follows:

• Saturday: 12:00 PM vs. RI Hawks on court #4
•                 2:20 PM vs. Ocean State Waves on court #2
• Sunday:  9:40 AM vs. Mass Premier on court #5
•               2:20 PM Championship Game For Pool D

Girls Stay Strong For Ultimate Challenge

The Mass Skyhawks Girls AAU Teams finished out their spring season with a strong effort in the Ultimate Wave Challenge Tournament in Connecticut this past weekend. All three teams did very well with the Girls 12U and 11U teams going 2-2 and the Girls 10U team going 1-3. Over all it was a fun weekend of basketball and team building friendships.

Skyhawks Take 2nd at Seacoast Shoot-Out

The Mass Skyhawks Girls 10U team came home with second place in the Seacoast Shoot-Out at the University of New Hampshire this past weekend. The young Skyhawks went 3-1 in the tournament and nearly won the tournament except for a questionable last second shot in the game they lost. Our youngest girls team has come a long way during this spring. The girls played tough defense all weekend leading to their biggest wins of the season. We look forward to continued development of our young Skyhawks...
