4th in State!!

In only it's third year of existence, the Stony Point Rugby Club finished 4th in State. The successful season was capped off with the State Tournament in Austin. This was a sure measure of the efforts of our young men and we would like to thank the seniors and Coach Jesse for their years of service and we are looking forward to the next year under the helm of Coach Rock.

RRISD PHYSICALS - ALL ATHLETES MUST HAVE BEFORE PLAYING SPORTS 

AUSTIN, TX - (July 14, 2010) - All school athletes are required to have physicals before they can play sports.

Dell Children's Medical Center and the Central Texas Alliance of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners are offering free sport physicals. No appointment is needed. Athlete must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for permission to participate.

Stony Point rugby 4th in state

The Stony Point High School Rugby Club, in its third year in existence, finished fourth in the Division I state tournament recently. They qualified for the tournament by winning against teams in the Central Texas and Houston area. Its only losses for the year were against state tournament qualifiers.

Coach Jesse Adams has led the team since it started and next year the current assistant coach, Paul McCartney - the owner of Rock Chiropractic - will take over the helm. The team graduates only two seniors this year, making prospects for next season exciting. The rugby season begins in early January and ends in May, and home games are played on the football field by Stony Point High School.

After the completion of the season Stony Point had four players make the All-Central Texas Team; senior scrum-half Bryan Lucas, junior hooker Seth Bucanek, junior fly-half Dillon Cole and sophomore lock Christian Ostberg. Cole and Ostberg also made the Texas U-17 all-star team.

The Texas squad competed in the National Tournament in Colorado last weekend against 16 other states' all-star teams. After a long weekend of games, Texas' U-17 team finished fifth and Christian Ostberg made the All-Tournament team.
