About UsThe Syracuse University Men's Club Soccer team is a part of the New York Collegiate Club Soccer League nyccsl.webs.com made up of 24 teams across New York State that plays its season in the fall. The team holds practices twice a week in the fall and once a week in the winter and spring and usually has two games a weekend in the fall. In the winter the team plays in an indoor league in Liverpool, NY and in the spring they’ll play a couple of friendly matches. The team is about playing hard on a path to victory while having fun doing so. Players on the team are highly skilled former High School, Club, and Premier Level players who wish to continue their soccer career without making the time commitment of playing at a Division 1 Level. Annual tryouts are held in the second week of school in September after the Club Sports Fair. The program is currently student run and not only presents a good opportunity to play soccer at high level, but a good chance to build up a resume if interested in holding leadership positions with the team. Fall 2010 Season: With a disappointing regular season record, the team was still able to qualify for the Northeast Regional Tournament and went in with an attitude of all or nothing. In a group with George Washington University, #7 Maryland, and The College of New Jersey, Syracuse was able to go 2-1-0 during group play. Though this record usually would result in the team moving onto the knockout stages, their goal differential wasn’t where it needed to be to qualify as a wildcard team. A bittersweet moment after the team had knocked off #7 Maryland in the last game of group play. Midfielder Charles Dellanno and Striker Christian Frederickson led Syracuse offensively throughout the season and Chris Jones chipping in effectively into regional’s. Fall 2009 Season: SU took in a good rookie class and hit the ground running. After a double header sweep of powerhouses Binghamton and Cornell, the team ranked #5 in Region 1, which spans from Maine down to Maryland. Syracuse was ranked the 5th seed in the regional tournament before the tournament was cancelled due to inclement weather, leaving Syracuse's season to end on a dry note. SU finished the season ranked 9th in the region. Fall 2008 Season: The team attended the regional tournament in Pennsylvania after a tough regular season and went 1-1-1, finishing third in a very competitive group, not making it to the next round. Their only win was vs. #7 Loyola who they beat convincingly 4-0.
