The 2009/2010 season sees the Tameside Arrows looking to improve on their previous year's showing and compete with the teams that head the league. Under the guidance of Matt Shaw, assisted by Greg Mpofu, there is a lot of experience around the club to lead the players and take the program in the right direction. The squad for this year sees a few new faces come in to add to base of returning players, also serving to replace a few members who have moved on. There is a good mix of personnel in the playing squad and this should see a good competition for places taking place. Also included in the playing squad for this season are two younger players under the age of 14. It can only serve to aid their development by training and playing with players much older than themselves and to learn to play without fear will be a powerful weapon for them in years to come. Home games for the Tameside Arrows are held in the sports hall at Fairfield High School for Girls, Fairfield Avenue, Droylesden, Manchester M43. Games tip-off at 1130 and the intimate nature of the facility makes for a lively atmosphere from the watching crowd. Please come and support the Arrows as they try to take Tameside Basketball up to a level that can allow the sport to generate more attention and funding in the borough and to develop more players to hopefully push the program further.
