Match Report v HarvesterOct. 31, 2011 Has taken a wee while to get my thoughts together on what turned out to be a very exciting match despite the park being a mess at Greenrigg . Had a big squad available though the loss of Calzo and Grant was a blow . I thought we started the game very well and Porky went close before Porky again broke through to win a 50/50 with the keeper and finish really well . Minty almost fluked another when his long clearance bounced over the keeper but hit the post with keeper beaten . Riki then fired in a beauty which cracked the inside of the post and deceived Blair who was on the way to celebrate with Riki .A lovely move then saw Riki cut one back for Blair who crashed another off the post . As Blair himself said had he miskicked it slightly it would have gone in.That not long after Blair had actually slightly mistimed one which went straight down keepers throat . Our front 2 supported by Porky were threatening to completely overrun Harvey at the back but that wee bit of luck you always need was deserting us .An incredible decision from the referee to deny us a penalty when Blair was blatantly pushed in the back didnt help either .And so it proved costly as Harvester drew level on the stroke of half time with a well worked goal which though finished very well may have been just offside . Half time 1-1 which I thought was very harsh on us . 5 minutes into the second half Harvester had a man sent off and we quickly went 2-1 up but rather than push on from there ,our middle guys lost a wee bit of momentum by perhaps relaxing too much and in honesty Harvester were the better side for the next 25 minutes . We then lost both wing backs Broony and Berty and the reshuffle didnt help as these were the exact areas that Harvester were to cause us most problems . Asbo made a tremendous save from a free kick which was bound for the top corner but unfortunately the lesson wasnt learnt as Harvester equalised from a free header from the resultant corner kick . Guys looked shell shocked and within 2 minutes we were behind after a scramble in the goalmouth . We had to take chances at this stage and we were a wee bit exposed at the back .Fortunately Mintys pace and 2 cracking tackles got us out of jail . 3 mins to go and the gamble of throwing Paul up front paid off when he nodded in a cracking cross from the right . So finished 3-3 . In many ways gutted not to have secured the 3 points after a fine first half display but again happy enough to get the point with the late equaliser .Keeps both teams very much in the hunt for the League with our next game v Tower a massive one . Asbo - solid perfvormance again from Asbo who is quickly establishing himself in the team ,a couple of fantastic stops but perhaps the 3rd goal couls have been avoided Broony - I thought Broony was having a very decent game before having to come injured .Always a threat going forward and his withdrawl had a major impact on us. Berty- excellent effort from Berty who not only had the job of looking after a very good player but also got forward particularly in the first half to assist . Chris - Excellent performance from Minty and those 2 recovery tackles were magnificent . Spade - very effective performance from the big man .Nothing flash but good solid centre half performance . Bingo - had his hands full against a very good Harvester striker and overall did a fine job . We lost a little when Bingo had to come across to full back when Berty went off . Paul - captains performance with 2 goals .Attitude was first class and circumstances saw him play in 3 positions during the match . Basher - for an hour was extremely busy and was using the ball well - suffered a bit as the game went longer and longer with midfield being cut out . Porky - was excellent in the first half and may have had a hat trick .I thought Porky sat too far forward when we were 2-1 up against 10 men and was then very unlucky to get a second yellow card . Blair - First half was magnificent and couls also have had a couple of goals .Second half he suffered from lack of service as the final ball was simply not good enough to get him behind . Riki - led the line brilliantly and at the risk of being repetitive he also was unlucky when his strike hit the inside of the post . Like Blair I felt he suffered a bit from lack of service in second half . Mossy - went on for Riki to offer a wee bit of pace behind and was unfortunate on a couple of occasions particularly when he was nailed by 2 Harvester defenders when about to pull the trigger . Bla - went on for his first start against his former club and within a minute burst into their box but couldnt deliver the killer ball . Bla will do better than this in time . Mainsy - first taste of action this season and Mainsy was eager and willing - not on long enough to make a major impact but with a better contact may have grabbed a goal from a clever free kick from Blair .
