Second leg v Shotts Thistle

Absolutely delighted with todays performance and result .

New referee from Glasgow was quick to make an impression with an early yellow card for Bingo after a typical strong challenge .After only 9 minutes Scott D got a straight red card for flicking out the boot after the ball had gone .Not the start we were after but the team responded magnificently .First goal was an og when Broony chased a through ball with a defender ,keeper came out and hit the defender with the clearance .Just the wee break we needed .Broony then got us 2-0 up when he slotted past the keeper after a nice through ball split the defence .

Basher almost made it 3 from a back post header .

Second half against the stiff breeze and a man down Shotts had plenty of possession but we were always dangerous on the break .Riki almost made it 3 before Porky succeeded in getting us 3-0 up .A cracker from Basher made it 4 .Lost Bla to injury then Spade so had to reshuffle but despite Shotts getting a couple from set pieces we never looked like surrendering the lead.

Asbo - never put a foot wrong .Excellent display.Best one yet perhaps?

Bla - good performance from Bla .Always dangerous going forward and kept Shotts wide men quiet.

Spade - solid as ever . Made a couple of sorties forward as well . Played well .

Chris- Outstanding display from Minty .

Bingo - stuck to the task of handling the lively Shotts strikers .Was on a tightrope after the early booking so subbed him at half time .

Lee - Another very steady performance from Lee . Has settled in really well .

Scott D - only 9 minutes and red carded for daft kick .Let himself down the day .

Basher - worked his socks off but used the ball very well and chipped in with a screamer in the top corner .Superb.

Porky - along with Basher played against 3 in midfield for much of the game but broke up the play really well and also got on the scoresheet .Excellent effort.

Broony - done really well in 3 different positions !! Forced the error for the first goal ,scored the second and always a threat .Played right mid after the reshuffle then right back .Great shift from Broony.

Riki - Unusually not on the scoresheet but led the line well and always available for the out ball .

Good effort from the big man .

Scott C - went on at half time and caused Shotts problems down the left side .Did well .Fitness a bit to go .

Mainsy - asked to go on right side of midfield which is not where he is best suited but worked tirelessly and set up a couple of nice openings .Unlucky to deflect the free kick for Shotts second goal.

Craigy - got the last ten and once again was very effective .

Well pleased with the spirit and effort today . Quarter Finals to be drawn next week .
