League v Harvester

Disappointing performance overall in this League match . Although nothing at stake as far as the league was concerned it was still rather surprising that some of the players did not appear to be up for this fixture .

We have far more important games over the next few weeks but it would have been nice to secure second place .

With Porky Paul and Mainsy all missing we had once again to experiment a bit in centre midfield with Bla pushing in and Broony coming in off the wing to join Basher .

The movement of the  front 2 of Harvester was giving us problems in the wide areas and we fell behind .

Thought we perked up slightly thereafter and Bla had an excellent chance to equalise but his left footed attempt was very poor .

Some poor defending and a bit of ball watching in defence let Harvy take a 2 goal lead .

Riki then passed up a great chance to reduce the deficit .

2-0 down at half time and although we hadnt played well I felt that we had shown that we could give Harvester problems at the back .

This was confirmed when not long in Blair scored a terrific goal to get us back into it .

We looked ok at this point but a horrendous scramble in the box  saw an attempted clearance from Chris strike an attacker and end up in the net .

The game was much to wide open for  my liking however Riki pulled one back and we were back in it .

Again poor defending saw us caught square and Harvester again went 2 ahead .

A horrendous miss from big Scott could have reduced the arrears before a freak own goal got us back to 4-3 .We had a few decent openings after that but the final pass let us down .

So a defeat ahead of the semi final against Harvester in a fortnight but I saw enough to convince me that with the correct application we can most definitely get a positive result in the semi .

Asbo played well .

Bingo - carrying a knock and not quite himself .Defended much better second half but will be disappointed with his distribution .

Chris - nothing too great but steady enough

Spade - not quite the big mans best performance but effort not in question

Lee - can be happy with his return to the side after suspension .

Bla - driving forward he was very effective and caused them problems but too often switched off .Can make the difference .

Basher - disappointing first halkf from Bash but second half he was up and down the park to great effect .Very good second half performance from Basher .Important to the team that Basher does well .

Broony - had an effective enough first half and looked like he could give them problems out wide but overall looked a bit jaded .

Seb - nice touch and tried to use the ball properly .Will take Seb time to adjust to the physical aspect of our Amateur game but did ok .

Riki - up and down sort of day for Riki - lack of service on the floor made it difficult particularly against 2 centre halfs who were happier with high balls .Can be the match winner though as his goal again showed.

Blair - scored a terrific goal but we never got him in positions often enough where he could hurt Harvester .

Scott - nothing wrong with effort and came quite close with a header . Distribution was not the best yesterday and the nature of the game is such that the big man will get ribbed for THAT MISS for a long time to come .

We now have 2 semi finals against Tower and Harvester and regardless of the score yesterday we are well capable of turning that scoreline around .Harvester are also well aware of that as was witnessed when we kept coming back at them .

I have the team to play Harvester in mind but certainly wasnt going to show my hand yesterday .Sealed
